DO NOT EVEN BOTHER!!!!!!!!!

I thought it would be the best insurance ever, since it has the name ASPCA, I was wrong. They didn't pay anything!!!! The reason they gave me was "Exclusion Code - 2", then they sent me a paper explaining it what it means and it was pre-existing (for my baby's earmites). How is it pre-existing when she's only 5 months old??? It was her first time going to the vet. I wouldn't recommend it. Save your money. Find a better one.

Excellent care

Our dog, Sandi, is a three year old husky mix. We began a health policy with her because our previous rescue dog had some serious, and expensive, care toward the end of it's life. The company we chose is ASPCA, which was recommended by our veterinarian. The company has a good web site, the return checks after a claim are handled promptly, and we have the no hassle option of having our quarterly payment charged automatically through a credit card. To date, Sandi has had several hundred dollars worth of bills, mostly due to a infection that set in around a deer fly bite on her nose. She needed shots, ointments, and lab work. We are looking forward to a long and healthy life for Sandi, but we feel she is worth the little bit extra to insure that we can afford to take care of her.

Peace of mind for my pet

After my pitbull had undergone a couple of surgeries in her second year one of my sons-in-law suggested pet insurance and she has been covered by this company ever since. Their coverage has always seemed prompt and pretty generous and I have appreciated greater peace of mind over the years. My dog has done well over the years because of regular veterinary care, good diet and natural supplements designed to keep her as healthy as possible and I am hoping that nothing too serious will happen in the future but one never knows. She experienced hip dysplasia in one hip (the other looks great), tore both her cruciate ligaments at different times, had the top of her femur removed but hasn't had surgeries for many years. Recently she was diagnosed with Horner's Syndrome in one eye. I was told that 50% of such cases are idiopathic and go away on their own and her eye does seem to be looking much better recently.

Not Satisfied

I have had this insurance for a year now and all they have paid out is approximatly $25. Every time I file a claim they seem to make some connection to an alleged pre-existing condition. I'm tired of fighting them because I always loose. I would love to switch but my hands are tied. Any condition my dog currently has will now be pre-existing to a new insurance. My hands are tied

Very good insurance

Having pet insurance is very important to provide peace of mind regarding veterinary expenses. I have been very pleased with the service provided by the Hartville group and it has saved significant out of pocket expenses. I have it for all 3 of my dogs and the variety of plans offered provides the flexibility that pet owners need.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
