Pet Insurance - Kindness to my Pet and Pocketbook

My dog Rose is 7 and has been at the Vet this year a total of 13 times. I really think that I might have hesitated taking her if I didn't have pet insurance. I am out of work and the vet bills are expensive, but with insurance from ASPCA, I am completely with a peace of mind that most items will get reimbursed.

many many paws

Our family has been a Petshealth Care Plan client for many, many years and we could not be more pleased with the service we have received. At different times we have had between 4 and 6 pets covered and while most are rescues we have been very happy with the level of service provided. Now our three daughters are out of the house and they each have 2 cats as well, all covered by the same plan. While we know there are differing levels of service, we have been very happy and understand that insurance is not an all inclusive catch all, but it sure does help. We have had a dog with cancer (twice), a cat with an amputated leg, a Gastroplexy (stomach twist) as well as the normal run of the mill issues, but through them all, our animals are still covered and living long and happy lives. Thank you for being there and so responsive when we have need you. Michael and Jamie and all the Paws

Adventures happen!

My dog Eva is the world to me. I adopted her from the Humane Society in Maui when she was 5 months old and she has been my faithful traveling companion in these last 5 years as I wander through life and across the country. I have grown up always having a dog (or more) in my life, but she is my first personal companion. I love being outdoors, exploring, and traveling, and she goes everywhere and does everything possible with me! I had a feeling when we began our adventures that allowing her this freedom to explore might introduce some chances of injury or sickness. Therefore finding and signing up for the ASPCA health insurance was the best thing I have ever done! Multiple times now we have needed the services of the ASPCA pet insurance to help cover the costs of our vet visits. Fortunately she is naturally healthy, but as I had anticipated, her high energy and accidental encounters have incited a few costly trips to the vet. Our coverage has provided reimbursement averaging 50% of the costs, which I have told my family and friends that I am very grateful for! I highly recommend pet owners, especially those who have active and adventurous furry companions, to get pet insurance. I look forward to many more adventures with Eva and it gives me comfort to know that I have support from the ASPCA Pet Insurance to keep her healthy and happy for the rest of her blessed life!

In today's world I cant afford not to be insured.

I am so glad I decided to purchase pet insurance for my dog Uli. I purchased the insurance over two years ago when she was just a puppy and hadn’t had much use for it. As the economy got tighter I thought about canceling the insurance to save money. I thought there wouldn’t be a need for it because she seemed so healthy so I had planned to cancel the insurance when it was up for renewal in April. I had just made the decision when Uli had an anaphylactic reaction to a new pet food and had to be rushed to the vet. She was severely ill and spent two days in the animal emergency room. I knew a significant portion of it would be covered by the insurance so I didn’t have the added worry of the vet bill. Had this even occurred two months later, Uli’s insurance would have been canceled and I would have had to pay the entire bill. I made the decision that night to continue the insurance, with today’s economy I can’t afford not to have pet insurance. I now know firsthand that pet insurance is a must have in this day and age. Not only does it save you money but it allows you to focus on the important things in life like the health and well being of your pet instead of worrying about the vet bill or feeling guilty because you can’t afford a treatment.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
