ASPCA Rocks

I've had ASPCA pet insurance for my dog, Casey, since I got him 3 yrs. ago. The first time I filed a claim (for a fight over a tennis ball) I was very happy with my reimbursement. Then, just last month, Casey needed ACL surgery. I was very impressed, relieved and happy for the reimbursement which was about 65% of the total. And for both claims ASPCA said they would handle the claim within 30 days and they did so without any hassle. I have total peace of mind with ASPCA.

Encourages wellness with the coverage

We have had ASPCA pet insurance on our 7 year-old Lab, Crusoe, for 2 years. We selected Level 4 of insurance which covers a number of wellness procedures. We had dental work done, including an extraction, as well as cleaning and this was covered. They also cover shots and heartworm meds and tests. Having this insurance makes it affordable to keep our dog healthy. He has had a couple of ear infections (common for the breed) and treatment is covered.

Pleasant and painless experience

My older dog had a tumor on his eyelid that was causing discomfort, continuing eye infections and the possibility of permanent eye damage and vision loss. He had another tumor on his knee. Both were removed at the same time. Based on my health insurance claims experience, I dreaded filing claims on my dog. I was pleasantly surprised. It could not have been easier, the response was timely, explanations thorough and the coverage was much better than I had hoped for. I would not even consider having a pet without insurance coverage. The rates are nominal and the peace of mind is exceptional.

Dreadful - they got out of almost all payments.

I had three cats (one mixed breed and two Balinese) on ASPCA and in all cases of claims except for one they refused to pay anything, arguing pre-existing and/or heridtary condition even though there were no known problems when I first insured the cats. They seemed to view life as a pre-existing condition. I cancelled after having wasted money on ASPCA and being subject to paying large vet bills on my own. Highly dissatisfied to the point of thinking this is a sham / fraudulent company.

Pet insurance is a must!

Should something catastrophic happen to our dear boy, Tyler, I don't want my choices to come down to money. We have become extremely attached to our terrier mix. Some years we have benefitted from having insurance, some years we haven't used it at all. Until the money starts growing on the trees in my backyard, I will keep paying my premiums! Tyler is 11 now, so I feel we could be coming into his stage of life where the big issues could arise. Pet insurance gives me peace of mind, knowing we'll be able to take good care of him until the end. My tip is to get insurance on your pet when they are young and healthy.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
ASPCA Pet Health Insurance®, provided by Crum & Forster Pet Insurance Group through its licensed agency, C&F Insurance Agency, Inc., is committed to improving animal care across the U.S. by making veterinary care more affordable for pet parents.
