Injured pets can be expensive to cure.

We have three dachshunds, which is a breed prone to back injuries. We also provide them with preventative care, annual dental work, etc. Petshealth coverage allows us to keep our dogs healthy and, in the case of our Toby, who suffered two herniated discs, allowed us to focus on his recovery rather than the cost of the two surgeries he required. Toby is now 14 years old and truly a joy every single day. We wouldn't have an uninsured pet, ever.

Easy to Submit Claims

My dog Tucker is a Welsh Cardigan Corgi, 12 years old and in good health, but when my husband died last year and my income was drastically reduced I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to afford the vet bills that I knew would be coming up in the next few years. I purchased a policy on Tucker last year and since then he has had anal gland surgery (very expensive) and a serious illness. I haven’t added it up but I believe I am in the black or at least even with the premiums paid versus claims paid these last two years. I especially like how easy it is to submit claims via e-mail and how they are handled promptly by the company in a fair manner. The only thing I would change would be the “pre-existing conditions” clause every year. Some of these illness are long term or overlap the policy anniversary date and it would be most helpful to have them covered—if they began while the insurance was in effect, of course. I recently acquired a four year old “mutt” and one of the first things I did was insure her with ASPCA Pet Insurance. I hope I don’t need it, but . . . .

Overall Satsified with Product

The speed with which claims are processed is excellent. It is confusing about what services are covered at what level of coverage because when you are at the vet you obtain the services they suggest. Has resulted in some "surprises" in the size of some reimbursement checks. Staff are always courteous and professional. Keep an eye out for claims where they want info. from the vet as they never seem to get it! If you don't follow up with vet or send the records yourself you will get frustrated. Personally, it's most likely a vet issue because they've already been paid; where is their motivation to send in requested records?! Have had the plan for over a year for our first puppy and gladly added for our second a few months ago. Would suggest for anyone with a pet but especially dogs. Puppies are REALLY expensive with vaccines, little "issues" here and there, and sterilization that you will easily spend $1000+ the first year. Having the coverage for reimbursement has been nice.

what good fortune it was for me to cover my two do

My Jack Russells' ilness followed on the heels of my rescue mix terrier. Both had scary bouts with gastroenteritis, the cause of which noone knows. the expense only increased the stress . I had never submitted a claim and, quite frankly, I didn't have high expectations for a reimbursement. I sent in my paperwork and was really surprised and Pleased with the reimbursement that came within a few weeks. I've since Encouraged many friends with pets to get on board with this coverage.
