Thankful that I have insurance for my pets

My twin sister and I are Christian clergywomen,Lutheran tradition. We had visited family and friends in Chicago on our vacation back in 2006. We had to hurry back home because we both had unexpected funerals to prepare. Upon our arrival home on that Sunday evening my cell phone went off. It was our veterinarian. We looked forward to picking our sweet dog up on Monday Morning. We had kenneled our dog with our vet. The vet informed us that our beloved Springer Spaniel/ Burnese Mountain dog Poncho, was not doing well. We went to see him and he was completely paralyzed. Our vet suggested we get him to the Emergency Vet clinic. A wonderful surgeon, Dr. Reimer discovered Poncho had blown a disk which caused the serious paralysis. This godly man performed surgery and saved our wonderful dog. The sugery, hospitalization etc. cost over $4,000. We learned about this wonderful insurance and purchased it and it has been a blessing ever since. Our sweet Poncho passed away last Summer 2010. Our cat Toby was a stray and a wound manifested on his left flank. Several antibiotics, vet visits, and surgery but the wound would not clear up. CT Scan showed he needed more intensive surgery. Dr. Reimer performed the touchy surgery. A three inch twig was removed which was near his aorta. Dr. Reimer said that when he was a stray, he must have impaled himself on a branch. ASPCA insurance and especially the Continuing Care plan was a great blessing for us and Toby.

Pet Insurance is certainly worth purchasing

After loosing one of our cats to kidney failure, and seeing the expense of her care, we decided that we wanted to protect her sister Maggie, and this year Maggie did get a urinary track infection and the ASPCA pet insurance covered more than 50 percent of the cost, and our Maggie is fine now.

Good To Have

Pet insurance helps to cover some of the cost for your animals that become part of your family. We adopted a Greyhound and wanted insurance for any accidents that might happen in the future.

Decent coverage

I've had a satisfactory experience with the ASPCA insurance coverage. The turnaround time for reimbursement takes about 3 weeks. It's come in handy in a couple of emergency situations for both of my cats. The reason I'm not giving the insurance a higher score is due to the pre-existing conditions clause. If my pets were to be diagnosed with an illness when my policy is up for renewal, it would be considered a pre-existing condition and there would be no further coverage for that condition. This disappoints me since I've been a customer for a couple of years and I'd feel more confident in the coverage if the pre-existing clause weren't in effect.

We appreciate the timely responses and service.

We adopted our dog, a mixed breed, about 2 years ago. She is now about 3. We were surprised & concerned when we discovered she was having an eye problem which was causing infections. We are learning it is unusual for her breed mix but we have been pleased that our pet insurance has helped to relieve some of the burden of caring for this young dog since it appears to be a problem that we will be able to manage. Thank you for prompt service and feedback.
