Relief!

I decided to purchase pet insurance on my Italian Greyhound, Rocky, after he broke his right front paw at the age of 6 months. Over a year later, Rocky decided to jump out of my SUV from the seat instead of jumping off the seat, then out of the car. He proceeded to break his left paw. Thankfully ASPCA pet insurance had been purchased for him! They paid 80% of Rocky's surgery and care to repair his broken leg. Thank you ASPCA!

Beware of pre-existing conditions after renewal

I hope this company will prove me wrong, but every single thing that they take care of, even eye infections, are excluded in subsequent years policies. Each policy is only good for a year. It is not like human insurance where PRE-EXISTING is defined as PRIOR to any insurance with the company. This company, and most, consider pre-existing as the year prior, so any care you get will never be paid for again unless it is preventive. This includes eye infections, indigestion--in other words things that are not chronic in nature but are one time things--they exclude EVERYTHING on future policies. PLEASE comment on this. Thank you.

I wish people Health Insurance was as good!

My dog, Olivia, was attacked by a Labrador Retriever which is not an even match for an Italian Greyhound! Very Fortunately her injury was limited to a bloody and large skin laceration -- serious, but no ligament or bone damage. It was on a Friday night and local animal hospital agreed to see her on an emergency basis. My priority being the injury and pain I didn't think in dollar signs until they handed me the bill - ouch! The injury had to be resutured 4 days later - another pricey event. I submitted each claim as they happened and was very pleased with ASPCA's first reimbursement BUT I expected that the second suturing would not be covered. Some days I just love to be wrong, ASPCA again reimbursed my costs very fairly. Olivia's injury has now healed; having ASPCA Health Coverage hasn't resolved her PTSD but I sure helped mine!
