Worst experience EVER - Petshealth Care Plan

A word of extreme caution to anyone considering Petshealth Care Plan insurance, or any other insurance, for their pet. Look at the policy very closely for language regarding "Plan Renewal Date" and "Continuing Coverage". Our dog was insured for four years. He was generally healthy and I had very few claims. The claims I did make took at least 4 weeks to be processed. Most of them were not honored for one reason or another. The two that really upset me were our final two claims. We had taken our injured dog to Emergency care for an injury suffered late in the evening on Jan 31. We then went to his Vet on Feb. 1 for a treatment plan. The result was a determination that expensive surgery would be necessary. I called my insurance company for a pre-authorization and was told that any claims would not be honored if submitted. The reason, because the injury happened before our plan renewal date (by less than six hours) this was now considered a "manifested" condition (aka pre-existing) and would be denied. After many long hours and consults with Vets we were faced with the painful decision to euthanise our pet. I submitted the claim for the procedure and waited to see what they would do. Today I recieved their reimbursement of $4. Never again! Pet owners should be wary of Pet Insurance providers and make informed decisions.

Pleased with the ASPCA

Had a lot of pets, but this is the first time I insured one. Roscoe (dog) is 5 and has had a few minor ailments during his time here and the usual yearly doggie stuff. So far I am pleased with ASPCA handling of our claims and have recommended the company to people thinking of getting pets. I am sure as Roscoe ages I will be calling on ASPCA to step up to the plate more often. I have no reason to doubt that they will not perform as they have in the past. Roscoe drives me nuts, but if should get another pet after his time here, I will sign up again with ASPCA.

Grateful for Insurance during Christmas Emergency

I signed up for ASPCA Pet Insurance in October 2011, "just in case." I have a healthy 2 year old goldendoodle named Coconut. Well, over Christmas Coconut got terribly sick - vomiting, diahhrea, the works. It was really scary. Because it was the holiday and her condition was so bad, they wanted to keep her overnight at the vet. Of course I wanted to do what was best for Coco, but goodness I was scared about the bill! It was such an unexpected expense to have at Christmas, which is already a time of year for spending lots of $$ The bill was about $700 and I got over $400 back from ASPCA (it would have been more but I had to cover the deductible). I was SO grateful for the insurance, it really helped. And thank goodness, Coco is back to her bouncy self!
