Easy to use, outstanding customer service.

This is the first policy that I purchased for my pets. It was highly recommended by out vet. Easy to use, and outstanding customer service representatives. The claims are processed quickly.

I have a high energy mischevious rat terrier;

Our rat terrier is now 2 years old and has had quite afew mishaps. She broke her left hind leg at the dog sitters before she was 1 year old but we are not sure how. Needless to say after 2 hard casts and 2 soft casts the injury has healed but it cost us almost $3000 and we didn't have insurance. Since then she has had Lymes despite being vaccinated, kennel cough which she must have picked up at the vets when she had to have a baby tooth removed because of impaction and infection and ASPCA insurance really helped cut some of the bill. Thank you.

Didn't cover anything

I purchased the level 4 coverage when we brought our puppy home from the breeder at 10 weeks. I purchased that because it covered spaying, yearly dental cleanings, etc. When we took our pup to get spayed, the vet called to say that the dog had renal failure. They could not put her under anethesia because of her condition. They recommended a 3 day IV treatment which I agreed to. We took her to specialists. None of them could agree that the condition was congential, but we could not prove that is was not. As a result, ASPCA indicated that they would not cover any services related to the condition

Easy and worth it

My greyhound ran into a pole and tore open his knee. I had gotten insurance for the "just in case" of this very situation. I live in an area that's more expensive than "customary," so the original friend who recommended that I get pet insurance warned me that it would reimburse about half of vet charges in the area. The process to get reimbursed was easier than it is with my human healthcare FSA! I received my check about 2 weeks after I submitted the claim. The grand total at the vet was $480, and I ended up with a check for $240-- just what I expected, and still a financial relief.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
