Good insurance, paid promptly with no hassle

I bought insurance for my 9-year-old lab because I knew as she aged she was more likely to have more costly vet treatments. We had two occasions to use it in the first year, and both times ASPCA paid promptly with no hassle or surprises. Customer service was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the coverages, as well.

Extreme disappointment

5 yr old greyhound had an issue with a rear toe. Dog seen by vet on 2/14. We were not in a hurry to amputate a toe unless absolutely necessary. Plan renewed 3/1/12, surgery on 3/30 no covered because we didn't have it done before May 1st. So much for not rushing into chopping off a dogs toe. Because of a 14 day gap, claim denied. A lot of BS !!

Raisins + German Shepherd = $$$$$

When I adopted Baby I decided to get her insured. I did a lot of research and found that ASPCA offered the best coverage for older dogs at the most reasonable price. So decided to go with ASPCA. I believe it was a very smart decision. When I came home one night to find that my GSD had eaten a bag of raisins out of my purse, ASPCA was very helpful and kind. Baby had to spend the weekend at the emergency room racking up a huge bill. It would have cleaned me out if it hadn't been for ASPCA Pet Insurance. I never had a problem getting someone from ASPCA on the phone. Everyone seemed to genuinely care about Baby's well being. I got my reimbursement check in a timely manner, so instead of having to pay around $1300 for Baby's emergency care it only ended up costing me around $400 out of pocket. I would highly recommend ASPCA Insurance, for the piece of mind knowing that you and your pet will be well taken care of if anything should happen.

Great company - keep it up!

We had three big dogs for many years (yes, three!) but never had pet insurance until one of our dogs was diagnosed with a spleen mass. A year after her spleen was removed she was diagnosed with bone cancer and underwent treatment. The mounting pile of bills for her medical visits made an already stressful situation even worse - but it was also the reason we decided to get pet insurance for the rest of the furry family. We chose ASPCA because they accepted older animals (up to 10 years) and their rates were great. We stayed with ASPCA because they have steadfastly and fairly supported us through multiple incidents with our dogs. A couple of our recent claims include 2 lbs. of raw pizza dough stolen off the counter by our Weimaraner Jack, who had to spend the night in intensive care, and a diagnosis of advanced heart disease in our recently adopted terrier mix, Tessa. Our monthly premiums are tiny compared to the money we've saved by using ASPCA; in fact our claims exceed our premiums every year so it's like having a savings account for pet health. Claims are very easy to submit; we just scan and email our forms to their claims address. When we have to contact ASPCA for any reason the people on the other end are patient, professional, and just plain nice. It's a great company and I recommend it to all of our friends.

Pet Health insurance

Although my pets are healthy it gives me peace of mind to know that when I do need insurance for my "fur children" I have it. ASPCA has been reasonably priced and the service is great.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
