Working for me & my pup!

I've had ASPCA Pet Insurance for my dog over several years now, and we're quite pleased with it. As our needs have changed, I've been able to get clear explanations from customer service & to keep coverage at an affordable level. And when Poko has had the occasional injury, this company has been prompt & fair with vet bill reimbursements. Can't ask for anything more!

certainly not worth the money!!

If I weigh the premiums paid against the vet bills for covered conditions, it was definitely not worth the money. I was reimbursed a certain percentage for covered conditions, but considering the deductibles and allowed amounts, ASPCA coverage did not pay off for us even considering the fact that our dog did require more than usual veterinary care because of allowed conditions. I would not recommend ASPCA Pet Insurance to anyone for this reason and the fact that reimbursement was always greatly delayed. I also had the feeling that anytime we received reimbursement that they felt we were lucky to be getting it. Isn't this what insurance if for?

Opportunists

ASPCA insurance has not only denied my legitiment claims but a friend's claim as well. They deny claims hoping you will not fight them. I knew I was in the right and I had to go as far as getting the surgeon and my vet to write letters. Both doctors were furious and appalled. The people on the phone don't know enough to be credible, they clearly were trained to keep money in the system but not educated enough to defend reasons for denying the claim. It was infuriating. In the end I did not back down and The claim went through. However when I got the check it was such a small percentage of the vet bill I was livid. I also was finished. I left and went with Pets Best where I have not had a single problem so far. ASPCA should be ashamed to be affiliated with the hartford group. My doctors were so disgusted they pulled the pamphlets from their lobbys. I will get my friends to write a review, their story is even worse.

Cancelled Insurance Out of Blue Then Refused Claim

After a year on the ASPCA insurance, I received a letter out of the blue (no prior claims) saying the insurance was terminated as of a certain date (about 60 days). Thinking I'd better find out if my dog was ok, I took him in for a physical even though it had been less than 6 months after his last checkup. As it turned out, he had an impacted tooth which had to come out. While in surgery, they discovered another impacted tooth and they removed that one also. ASPCA refused to pay one cent of the bill saying it was a pre-existing condition. There was no sign the teeth were impacted as of his previous exam. All in all, a bad insurance experience. I'd look for another company.

Insurance, you pay for something you hope you need

I've only had it for 9 mos. They have paid claims in a timely manner, but at $45.00 a month, I'm not sure it wouldn't be better to just put that money aside on my own.
