Overall positive experience with ins.

I think your ins. program has improved. I was surprised at how quickly I received a response. I have had your ins. for years and I am very satisfied. My only suggestion is that you review your recurring illness policy and perhaps make it more appropriate to reality-illnesses recur and/or take longer than expected to resolve, just like in people. If someone is paying ins. for years and rarely making claims, I would think that some fairness should be involved by your company.

Older Cats Not Eligible for Continuing Care Option

I had no idea this product did not offer continuing coverage for chronic conditions treated in the prior policy year. It was not discussed at the time of purchase and I only found out after I had cancelled my cats from Pets Best and signed up for ASPCA. This is just beyond the pale of business ethics. My cats had coverage (but no chronic conditions) under Pets Best but I was dissatisfied with Pets Best per incident deductible policy so switched to ASPCA. Now my cats with chronic conditions treated in 2012 will have preexisting conditions for other pet insurance policies. DO NOT PURCHASE ASPCA if YOUR PET IS NOT QUALIFIED FOR CONTINUING CARE POLICY. And ask if that policy expires at a certain age. The rep I just spoke to was so rude in telling me this was in my policy issued in 2011 (after I cancelled my Pets Best insurance) - like that helped after I had no option at that point. VERY DECEIVING business PRACTICE.

HONESTY IS NOT THE POLICY

I have been researching and reading 100's of reviews from this site. There were many complaints about insufficient payments on claims for ASPCA, so I called with specific questions regarding payments based on avg. cost of treatments in my area. 1st call was of no help ASPCA customer service rep wouldn't clarify and did nothing but hedge. I spoke with a supervisor who wasn't able to be specific. To paraphrase: "I can only tell you what is on the list provided." She repeated policy coverage. When I requested specific answers to specific questions there were none. Theoretically, if my cat' s treatment were to cost $1200.00 and their avg. for this area happened to be $700, theoretically, I would be left with a bill of 500.00! Since ASPCA refused to give me answers and there are so many complaints, I will NOT be giving my money to them. Beware! Research THOROUGHLY!
