Reliable insurer

Sadie, six year old lab, was diagnosed with partially torn ACL. We arranged for surgery with an excellent specialist.I submitted the estimate of expenses, and was told ASPCA would cover 80%. The vet said her minenscus had also been torn and a piece of cartilage had detached. Poor pup had been in such pain. Her surgery has resulted in her complete recovery after her physical therapy with us. So great to not have to worry about insurance coverage while we were so worried about her well being. We greatly appreciate your reliable timely service. Thank you.

Thankful for ASPCA Pet Insurance

I have had ASPCA Pet insurance coverage for my cat, which I had for 18+ yrs. A month before I had to put my cat to sleep, I acquired a puppy. I reviewed other insurance carriers but opted to stay with ASPCA since I've always had good experience with them. The puppy is now a 3 yr old German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Chow Chow mix dog. He has a thick chart at his vet's office since I became pet parent at 8 wks old. He is a very active and curious dog who seems to be prone to accidents and illnesses and being a first time pet parent to a dog his size (yes, all 118 lbs of him!) only adds to the equation. When he was 2 mos old, I ended up with a $600+ vet bill for ER service. I regreted the fact that I didn't purchase pet insurance for him at Day 1. In October of 2012 I noticed a lump on his neck which was growing. In March 2013, a surgery was needed to remove the lump which we later found to be a cancerous mast tumor. Due to him being a very active and easily exciteable dog and the placement, his incision (over 6 inches long) busted open multiple times, requiring 3 more surgeries to repair it. It healed very well, no chemo, and no recurrence so far. Per doctor's order, I check his whole body everyday to check for lumps and every 3 mos for vet check. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have pet insurance that covered at least 80% of the cost of the vet bills not just from this incident. At one point I thought of canceling the insurance and just opening a savings

No complaints

We have been long-time policyholders and we have usually had nothing but wonderful service from ASPCA. Like any other type of insurance, there are always things that are not going to work for everyone. On the whole though, we have had no problems with the way the insurance has worked for us. The customer service has been excellent - you can speak to real people when you call them, and those people have been helpful and friendly whenever I've called. I also appreciate the online services, which have really stepped up over the time we've held our insurance with this company. The fact that so much information is online now (claim status, policy details, etc.) is great and saves me time on the phone. I have been filing my claims via email for a few years now and they are processed pretty rapidly. All in all we are quite satisfied with the quality of this company's services and we would recommend them to others.

Good Service - Got what I paid for

Good service and follow up on their part. Took a little longer to get payment than I would have liked, but pretty good overall. Would recommend insuring to the highest or second highest level - these things get pricey

Very bad plan

My dog started getting sick in September. He was diagnosed with diabetes in October. October was the beginning of a new plan period. Because he started becoming sick in September but didn't get treatment until October, ASPCA would not cover any of his expenses. They said since he showed symptoms of his disease during a different plan period, he was not eligible to receive any reimbursement. This doesn't make sense and is very unfair.
