Horrible Pet Insurance

Horrible Pet Insurance! I had insurance with this company for 3 years. They raised my premium every year, which was more than doubled by the 3rd year. I had accident insurance and when my dog needed a CrCL knee ligament surgery after partially tearing it hiking and then fully tearing it playing stick shortly after. She was diagnosed by 3 vets to need surgery for an orthopedic injury, the company claimed it was an "illness" not an accident to they didn't have to pay the claim. I fought it in appeals, and they still claimed it was a "disease" my dog had, so wasn't an accident they didn't want to pay for. Horrible! I am out thousands of dollars for something I had pet insurance that should have covered. Please don't fall for their scams!

Asked me to pay back my reimbursed claims

ASPCA has been great... until last week... when they reached out to me saying they had made a mistake a few months back and "accidentally" approved several claims that I had over 6+ months ago that they now believe were potentially caused by a preexisting condition. Which is not the case. And they are now asking me to repay them over $600 in the next 30 days from reimbursements they made to me literally between 4 months ago and 10 months ago. Absolutely absurd and unacceptable. I am good about not submitting claims that are truly for preexisting conditions, so this is just very disappointing. Not to mention - I don't have the $600 that they reimbursed me a year ago?! I would understand more if it were from last month, but there should be a limitation on how far in advance they can ask for money back.

Terrible insurance- does not pay ANY for accident or illness.

Every single claim I filed for one of my cats for accident or illness was denied. Things that were supposed to be covered were, in fact, not. So $1,490 was not covered. this insurance is a money pit. I filed all of the documentation that was required. Don't waste your time or your money. I wish I hadn't spent $600 for the one cat's insurance.

Go with Spot or AKC. ASPCA just wants your money

Paid into ASPCA pet insurance for 10 months for four cats to the tune of $2,500+ with virtually no claims other than a few preventative reimbursements, and when I actually did have a claim, for a congenital issue with one of my new kittens - literally added him to my policy and took him to the vet that day, he was diagnosed that day and I submitted a claim a few months later for his first round of treatment- they refused to cover the defect. Because he was born with this, and because he was seen before the waiting period had expired, they will not cover it. Had I known that even though ASPCA advertises 0 waiting periods everywhere, apparently the advertisements don't apply in my state, I would've gone with another insurance that does not have waiting periods, or I would've signed up for AKC insurance where they will cover pre-existing conditions after 365 days. Now I'm in a pickle, 7 months into my kittens coverage with this insurance, which could've been 7 months with AKC who would cover this congenital issue, or I could've worked with another insurance to get him coverage for this issue at the beginning. It's kind of a shame how they handled this situation. ASPCA doesn't care about your animals unless they can make money off of them.
