Overall Satisfaction

I have carried your insurance (on two Shih Tzus) for several years. I am very pleased with the ease of submitting a claim & how quickly it is processed. Also impressed with follow-up. My only disappointment - questionable coverage on health problems that are common to a breed, ie: eye or kidney problems with the Shih Tzu breed. I can understand a waiting period when first purchasing the insurance (perhaps during first year of coverage). I have not had a problem in this area, but can foresee it occurring in the future. 'Just something to consider revisiting.' C. M. Fleming

Claims

I am very happy with the claims submission process. It's easy to email claims and the automated response notified me that they did receive it. The turn around time is pretty reasonable and I can keep an electronic record of my dogs claims in my email account.

Great HELP when accidents happen

Few big run ins with cows and cats caused a lot of trouble for my dog. ASPCA were great in getting my claim processed quickly. Helpful customer service. Only insurance I would ever get.

Happy to have protection.

Having ASPCA pet insurance has helped me to care for my beloved dog. Accidents, sickness and regular well visits can rack up large bills, but having pet insurance has been a blessing. It's nice to be reimbursed for money I would have gladly spent anyway. Most recently Bailey needed to have his teeth cleaned and gums cut back. I thought he was losing his teeth due to age, only to find out his gums were growing over them. Now he has a beautiful set of pearly whites. He reminds me of the dog with dentures! He is healthy and happier too !

Customer for 7 years

I have had insurance coverage on my dog since he was 6 years old. For many, many years, we never had to make a claim, but as he got older, he started having more maladies. My policy is an older policy, and has a 8k reimbursement limit, and over the past 5 years, I have files enough claims that we are just a few hundred dollars away from reaching it. I can honestly say that having pet insurance was the best decision I ever made because I never wanted to make a decision regarding my Jack's health based on money. One downside of this insurance though, is that we take our dog to a top of the line veterinary clinic, so their prices are a bit higher, and the company always gives us less than what we paid. For example, if our Vet charged $300 for an X-Ray, ASPCA would reimburse us based on an X-Ray fee of $250, stating that the $250 cost is more customary to our area.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
