My claim was handled very fast and with ease
My little Luna got terribly sick with an autoimmune disease that had her completely debilitated. She could not walk, we had to carry and hold her while she was having a bowl movement. She was sick for almost 2 months. She is doing great now. We are so thankful that we had insurance for her and ASPCA insurance co. was just great. We send all our medical and prescriptions and with no delays they started working on it and reimbursed us for 90% of our expenses. It is amazing how easy the process was.

READ MY EXPERIENCE BEFORE YOU BUY ASPCA INSURANCE
I bought the fancy Level 4 plan with a $7000 annual maximum. About $900/year.Plan period runs January 1-January 1.
On December 14, my dog presented with severe anemia. The vet did some tests, with no causation, and sent me to a specialist who did additional tests-no causation. Her anemia is worsening.
Now, at the very end of the year, the specialist recommends a bone marrow aspiration, at the cost of about $1200. It is scheduled for the following week, first week of January. It turns out she has an autoimmune disease, and now is being treated successfully.
My $1200 claim is DENIED. Why? "Any illness that continues into the next plan period will not be covered". So, because my pet was unlucky enough to develop a life threatening condition only 2 weeks before her plan period ended, we only had two weeks to have this illness covered by the insurance. In our case, after that 2 weeks we still didn't even have a diagnosis! ASPCA denied me before they even knew what they weren't covering! So much for my fancy, expensive $7000 Level 4 plan. The plan automatically renews, the premiums automatically continue to be charged, but the care stops cold at the end of the plan period.
I argued and they finally relented after many phone calls, and emails, and conversations with their customer service (BTW a nice guy, a credit to their company, only reason they deserve 1 star). In the end, in order to something back from the $1200 bone aspiration bill, I had to retroactively (12 months) pay premiums for a continuing care add-on, and pay an additional $100 deductible. Continuing Care only offers an additional $2500 in coverage. Did I mention that I had been paying for a $7000 coverage plan all along? What a deal.
If you have ASPCA insurance, you better hope that if your pet becomes ill, it happens at the beginning of the plan period. We have no control of these things and this should not be a factor in an insurance plan.
I am thinking that the few positive reviews that are out there are people who were lucky enough to have their pet's illness occur in the early months of their plan period, giving them time to go through the diagnostic process and treatment. Lucky you. We were at the other end.
BE ADVISED! THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE. There is a reason why they are rated so poorly.. Don't waste your money, there are better plans out there.
