For Accidents and Illnesses

I never thought I would need to use pet insurance but bought it just in case (I have the plan for accidents/illnesses). As a vet assistant I've seen too many times when pet owners cannot afford to do the very best for their pets and have to settle for less expensive options. My dog is my family and as such I wanted to be prepared in case anything were to happen. Unfortunately, I have had to use the insurance a few times. My dog got into rat poison, xylitol from gum, bite wound, back pain, broken tooth extraction, scratch on her eye, and this is all within the past few years. The total for those vet bills is at least a couple thousand, but with insurance I've saved a ton of money being reimbursed for 90% of the bill most of the time. I'm hoping we won't run into anymore issues, but I have peace of mind knowing that if something does happen I will be reimbursed for most of the money I've spent on treatment. ASPCA has been wonderful. They always call to follow up and see how my dog is doing after a claim has been submitted. The claim form is very easy to fill out and does not require a veterinarian signature (a lot of insurances require this which requires another trip back to the vet just for a signature). If they have any questions about treatment, diagnosis or medical records they contact the veterinarian themselves. Overall I am very happy with ASPCA. My only critique is that the costs have been going up each year, but I sort of expect that to happen with any insurance premium.

Rip Off

I had my four dogs insured with ASPCA for going into the fourth year with out interruption, or one claim. In November I renewed all policies and paid around eighteen hundred in advance. Read my Yelp review. I brought my Westie in to my vet to be treated for a cyst. The bill ame to five hundred fifty dollars. ASPCA denied the claim siting an ambiguous language that the dog had a previous existing condition. Where I come from if the animal is insured for over three years how can it be considered a pre existing condition. They accepted my payments for three years. This company does this all the time. This is how they get out of paying out on claims. I have since stopped my payment on my credit card for the policies. Research and go with one that is reviewed in the ten best category.

Prompt claim processing and refund

Am pleased to know that after a trip to the vet, I most likely will be getting a refund from ASPCA. Not the entire bill but something is better than nothing. Had a personal telephone call from ASPCA inquiring as to the health of my animals and how they are doing. This was very impressive.

Simplicity and satisfaction.

I love how easy and fast it is to file a claim online. I used to have my vet office do it until I realized how faster it is to do it myself. The vet office would take at least a week to do it and then I had to wait for the mail to get to ASPCA, and it would be 2 weeks before I could view the claim online. I now file it online myself and within seconds it is available to track! I love how simple it is to read the explanation of benefits. The website is easy to navigate and pretty straight forward. There was only one time I had to call customer service over something that was my fault regarding my plan. I forgot to add the wellness plan to my new puppy's plan. They were able to fix that for me even though you are only allowed to change your plan once a year. I had been a loyal customer to them for over a year before I insured my second dog through them. ASPCA vales their customers. I only filed one claim in my first year insured by them. I was satisfied with my refund and the simplicity of it all. Days after receiving my new puppy I was at the vet for her first visit. And second. A month later she was hospitalized twice. I filed many claims within the first few months of her life. I am highly satisfied with the service I have received. The only thing I'd suggest improving is the amount of money I am refunded. How great would it be to receive 100% back? Also, it would be nice to be able to not have to pay up front and wait for the money refund. I understand that is not how animal insurance works.

all around good experience

Our 8 year old lab Maddie was diagnosed with an autoimmune system problem, and she had to undergo tons of tests. To know that we had pet insurance from day one, was a very comforting thought. ASPCA certainly confirmed our trust, the reimbursement was prompt and without problems. I certainly would and have recommended ASPCA to all my friends with dogs. .
