Aural Hematoma

Trigger suffered an aural hematoma as a result of an ear infection. I submitted my claim and was reimbursed about 80% of the total cost so, not bad.

Thank you

Our Golden Retriever suffered 2 torn ACL's one year apart. two years ago.Her surgeries were successful and she has been a happy and healthy best friend since that time. It was our first experience with Pet Insurance and a very good experience. Her needs were met, the result of the surgeries all we could ask for and all accomplished in textbook order. Thank you for helping to make a very difficult time less so.

Kidney disease

First time I entertained pet insurance after spending thousands on my prior cats due to urinary infections. I still have one female cat who requires constant care for same problem and is not covered by insurance. I adopted another cat who was 4 yrs. old and decided to look into pet insurance and finally considered ASPCA hoping I would not have problems, but needless to say, she was diagnosed with Kidney problems. All claims submitted were dealt with on timely basis and had no issues with anyone. However, based on the comments from D. Fallon and others, I'm wondering if I renew the policy will the kidney problem be considered pre-existing and denied should she not be cured at the time of renewal?

I'm grateful for the help

My buddy Ren, is a 3 1/2 year old tan tabby rescue. He's been my best buddy for the past 2 years. Three days before Christmas the urine balls in the hatbox shrank to 1/2 normal size and then stopped. Poor guy was in discomfort. I took him to the vet, and we began a repeating ritual ofIIV fluids/meds, Catheterizations and trips between our vet and the Emergency Vet hospital for overnight ICU care. By Christmas it was cleat that Ren would have to have a perineal urethrostomy or be euthanized. I lost my last cat to urinary problems when she was only 10, and I couldn't bring myself to do it again. I didn't remember that I had pet health insurance until after the surgery was done and Ren was back at home. Ben's bills were very expensive. I was glad that the insurance paid for about 2/3 of the bills.

They make insurance more pleasant

While I wish I could get paid back more of my claim (I live in New York and they pay back based on reasonable average rates. Nothing costs a reasonable amount in New York) the customer service is excellent. They always call and check in on my pet. And filing claims has now been made super easy, with online filing. They make the painful experience of insurance a lot more bearable.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
