Life Saver
Recently our small lab mix, Ollie, was diagnosed with tetanus. He was acting strange after daycare to the point where we felt we needed to take him to the emergency vet. He was panting and drooling, had glassy eyes, and was unable to relax his back legs or sit normally. Needless to say it was a shock that we had to decide in a few minutes whether or not we were going to medically board our dog for 2 weeks and provide full funding out of pocket to treat our dog appropriately.
Fortunately for everyone we made the right decision to take Ollie to the vet when we did. We were told that had we waited until morning he may have been beyond recovery. We are proud to say that Ollie is back to his old self and minus a couple of scars is healthy again.
The thought of having a family member in a life threatening situation is tough enough, but to have to weigh the options with medical bills in the back of your mind is exponentially more difficult. We love the ASPCA for so many reasons, but they have also been so great for us for insurance purposes. Within a few weeks we did receive reimbursement for a majority of a pretty hefty bill.
Thank you very much to the ASPCA for helping us save our dog and loved one. You really were a life saver!
