No knot in our stomachs.

Our younger dog developed a "growth" in the roof of his mouth. We saw our vet immediately, and he felt we should have the growth removed. As to whether or not it was cancerous had yet to be found out. The surgery was going to be expensive. Before getting the ASPCA insurance, the minute one of our dogs got sick, we would be debating as to whether or not the dog HAD to be seen by the vet and would we be able to pay for the appropriate care. Now, we still try to make a "reasonable" evaluation, but if we have to go to the vet, we know that we won't have to make a panicked financial decision; our insurance will likely cover the majority of our bill. Oh, incidentally, the lesion was not cancerous, but to eat it needed to come off.

Excellent insurance

I've been very happy with my Petshealth policy. My 16 yr old dog developed glaucoma & lost the vision in 1 eye. It was necessary to have a surgical procedure done & Petshealth paid 80% of almost all the charges. There have been follow up appointments & numerous eye drops, the insurance has been great. All payments have been prompt, there have been no problems at all.

Ovida'a TPLO surgery

We had never had pet insurance until this last almost year and a half. After losing our Chessy to diabetic complications(I gave her insulin 2 times daily for over 4 years) we became aware of how costly an illness/injury can be. Our sweet Ovida (Ovi) was just playing in the house with our Maine Coone. Normal daily activities but she must have twisted the wrong way and hurt her right back leg. I watched her and rested it for 4 days but saw no improvement so went to vet. X-ray and exam followed showing a lot of tearing of her ACL . Ovi was put on Rymidal for imflamation/pain and Ace to keep her calm. Visited surgeon for exam and surgery followed the next day. The insurance paid really well. We are on the 90% of usual and customary coverage. I need to to say that this is a very costly surgery, but necessary. There were only a small handful of charges on the surgeon itemized list that were not paid at 90%. The $300+ first doctor expense was covered as was surgery and follow up medications needed to recoup. I like the fact you can log in to your account, see when received, and where they are with the process. To expedite the payment I had the vet copy all of Ovi's records and sent with first billing. Important to know there are some exceptions...to coverage with timelines. ACL is a bilateral issue and there is a waiting period of a year if the pet had one before. These are the most pleasant people to work with at ASPCA. Every conversation has been helpful, kind and caring. I even received 2 follow up calls checking on Ovi. Sorry so long...but I would not hesitate to go with this company. Stellar!!! Also have our cat on program...haven't needed to use yet; ). Peace of mind if we do.
