Thank Goodness for ASPCA pet insurance

My new dog, Samantha, a rescue; came to me with double hip dysplasia. I knew this was a pre existing condition and wouldn't be covered but having lived through other dogs and cats and sometimes struggling with vet bills, I decided to get pet insurance and believe in the good work the ASPCA does so I chose them. Samantha developed diarrhea off and on and went from being able to eat about anything to regularly developing intolerances to food. My vet finally said we have to do an expensive test to find out if it's her pancreas. It was and I am adjusting her food to accomodate her condition. BEcause of the pet insurance I felt no hesitation to submit her to this test to find out the truth. She is going to a specialist tomorrow to see if there is anything else we need to do to help her. Without this insurance, I would be worried all the time about upcoming vet bills and deciding what was important and what was not based on what I could afford. Now I can give my pets the very best care I can knowing it will be covered. The people at this company call to ask about SAmantha. They really seem to care and urge me to submit claims even if they may be turned down. They are quick to reimburse me on all covered services and meds. It is just a top notch company and I recommend them to everyone.

Peace of mind

I never worried during Rosie's life. I always felt I could say "yes" if she needed anything. I've been Ill during Alice's time, but I know that ASPCA insurance allows me to keep her health as precious as my own.

Excellent - they continue to improve their service

After my dog went for a while without any major incident (she already tore both ACLs and had surgery) I considered cancelling my policy. But I kept her insurance since accidents, by their nature, are hard to predict. And I am glad I did so. My dog ended up needing to have multiple cysts removed, and had a growth on her eyelid that had started causing problems. She also got an ocular ulceration, and stress related colitis. She had to be in a cone for three weeks, and that was stressful for me. But getting my claims processed and receiving payments from ASPCA pet insurance was not part of that stress. The payments came before my credit card bills were due, so I didn't have to carry any balance over to the next month. ASPCA pet insurance also called to follow up and see how my dog was doing, which helped me find out about some improvements they made to the member portal and set up direct deposit so I wouldn't have to wait for checks (or worry about missing one in the mail).

Who Knew?

When I first decided to give Ruby (my cat) a forever home Health Insurance was not even in the picture. Now after some Thyroid and general health issues I'm thankful I have it. ASPCA has reimbursed my claims promptly and satisfactorily. When dealing with ASPCA associates on the phone they have all been quite friendly and respectful. Also they always inquire about both of my cats with genuine interest and concern. I am happy with my choice of companies.

Good for Emergencies

Not having to make awful decisions based on the ability to pay is very comforting. It is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Monthly Cost

Rates start at: $10 (for accident only), $16 (Complete Coverage). Rates vary based on species, age, breed, and location.

Coverage

The pay-out amount is based on the actual vet bill, at a rate pre-selected by the customer: 90%, 80% or 70%

Payout Limits

Annual limits can be set by the customer, ranging from $2,500 to $20,000, including an unlimited option. No lifetime limits.

Deductible

$100, $250 or $500 annually.

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

There are no waiting periods for preventive care. Coverage begins 14 days after date listed on policy for accidents, illnesses, and knee/ligament conditions.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered. ASPCA Pet Health Insurance has two Preventive Care plans that can be added to help cover a pet’s wellness care, including annual exams, vaccinations, tests, dental cleanings and flea/heartworm preventive. Preventive Care plans reimburse up to a set amount for each listed treatment. If your pet exhibited symptoms of a knee and ligament condition at any time, prior to enrollment or during a waiting period, all ligament and knee conditions will be excluded. Ligament and Knee are conditions involving a ligament, patella, meniscus or soft tissue disorder of the knee. Accident-Only coverage available.
