How to Save Money at Central Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Had an awesome experience! Brand new to Wisconsin from California. My dog started having nothing but blood coming out instead of feces for 2 days, in the house, wouldn't eat, drink, couldn't stay still, kept throwing up blood. I called Central Animal hospital today at 9:20 am. By 10:45 my dog was being xrayed. I mean talk about quick! Had to pay an urgent care fee, but I have peace of mind knowing there's no internal bleeding. I don't understand thr negative reviews.

Took our cat in for her first appt….. didn’t even do any blood work. After that they gave us expired meds. Seriously? Is it that hard to check if it’s expired or not? They had it in a bag that said it didn’t expire for a year but on the med itself it said it was expired. Than when I took my car back, they looked at her for 3 min. Than decided that she needed a shot and another med to help. How can you tell! You didn’t even look at her long enough to know that her infection is worse and her bumps are worse too!! Definitely don’t recommend.

Dr. Kratt does a great job. Wonderfully run practice too. I would recommend to a friend.

Whenever I’m in the exam room, I get great care at reasonable prices. Anything requiring the front desk, making an appointment, getting information in a timely manner, getting pricing on services I’m considering - literally anything outside of the exam room, has been a frustrating experience. Front desk staff never know if an appointment will be available if it’s not several weeks out, they don’t know pricing, I’ve been scheduled in the wrong week and told an incorrect date before and had to put my cat and self through leaving the house and going to the vet all over again. I need a Vet to have more professionalism than just in the exam room. And forget about it if you ever need a shorter notice appointment. Won’t happen. I finally got fed up and switched vets to someplace that shows more overall professionalism and has staff aside from the vet themself who are skilled at their jobs ans able to do them in a timely, accurate, professional manner.

Today was my first time going to this Vet and the price I paid for my animal (pet) was a reasonable price. I have A Hamster in which it's a smaller animal and it got wet tail, I was so happy that I was able to get into Central Animal Hospital within 3 days of calling right away. Other Vets take about a 2 week waiting period for all my animals that I've had in the past. I was happy with the feed back of Kristina S. About my hamster and I so happy they ask all the right questions. Dr. Douglas K. Was also so great and informative about my options. It's funny how my Hammys Medication was sent to any Human Pharmacy because when I got to the pharmacy and they saw it was a for a hamster they seemed a little amused my hamster's name is "Baby," and the pharmacy used My hamsters name "Baby" but they put "Baby-Hamster" and my last name I thought that was so cute. (I hope my two years old Baby-Hamster-boy gets better soon)
