How to Save Money at A Breed Apart Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

For the last 25 years, we have entrusted our dogs often and unconditionally to these loving, caring professionals. We've moved out of the area and are sorry not to be able to continue that relationship but we encourage you to start yours today. You simply won't find more professional, kind caring and enjoyable people in a vet Clinic anywhere. Thank you from the bottom of our dog food bowls.

My dog is nearing end of life. Kate sat on the ground with her, comforted her, and we worked on a plan to manage her pain until it’s time to say our goodbyes (yes, while sitting on the ground). I never felt rushed, although they were short staffed that day and I didn’t have an appointment. Kate’s empathy and true love for what she does has always shined through, but yesterday, when it was needed more than ever, it was brighter than the sun. There’s no easy way to say goodbye to a pet, but having the support of an amazing vet, makes a difficult situation much easier to navigate. Big thank you from Molly and I to the entire staff for their empathic approach to vet care. It’s hard to find and I feel incredibly lucky to have found it. On a softer note, the staff really appreciates and enjoys donuts. If you have an early morning appointment, be sure to sneak a 50 pack of donut holes to the counter. Thank you!

I've lived in the area with my two cats for nearly 8 years. I've only recently started going to A Breed Apart recently. One of our cats has a few chronic needs (diabetes, megacolon, food sensitivities) and requires special care and a whole lot of $$$. In looking for more affordable care with excellent services, I came across A Breed Apart. The reviews are true folks, they have treated me and my furry family to compassionate and results focused care. My Yoshi had recently had an extensive dental proceduee and frankly, it's like ABA had dialed back his clock about 5 years. Yoshi now has a newfound spring in his step thanks to the guidance and treatment from Dr. Kate and the rest of the team at A Breed Apart. Highly recommended.

I called before my appointment to let them know I would be running late. Unfortunately there was an accident on the express way. They also said that I can not be more than 15 mins late. I arrive exactly 15 mins and I waited for the women at the front to finish her call on the phone. After 4 mins she then ask our name and I told her and she said let me check with the doctor. By this time it is 21 mins after, then she come back and said since the doctor only have 10 mins let they have to reschedule. I told her I came at the 15 and I had to wait until she got off the phone. Just like I could not control the accident on the expressway, she could not control the time she spent on the phone. We already had had to wait a month to get in and they they wanted us to wait another 6-8 weeks for another appointment.
