How to Save Money at Kenosha Lake Shore Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Best vet in town, very understanding, very helpful and they truly care for the animals, not just making money... Hughby has been looked after the way I expect him to be by a vet. Highly recommended location. 2023 now, I still love going there they are fair priced and I may have lost my Hughby but years later got another and using Dr Khan again. Highly recommend them

Update: a few months ago took our two kittens in that we got from a farm, a third one already had passed before we could get him in. He looked them over, gave them some meds and went home. We weren’t sure if Rocky would make it, but they both are doing great now. Good kitties, watched over my little girl when she was sick. And we even took them camping. ******* Tiko was obviously thrilled to be there. While on vacation one of the kids called starting he chipped a tooth and was bleeding. I got home and called, they made room to fit us in. Barely any wait time. Staff was courteous. Dr was very kind, patient and knowledgeable. He could have raked me over the coals, but instead said to soften his food and take away the bones and just watch him to make sure he’s eating. $40 and we went home. Been going there for years.

I cannot un/no star reward the Dr because he did neuter my cat with no trouble! However, said cat (3 year old) had to go to the Somers ER, for incontinence/pink urine, diagnosis was a UTI/bladder thing. He was prescribed antibiotic and pain meds and the DR there noted a follow up needed to happen with his primary (Lakeshore) same week. No biggie, had him there before the day the meds were done. My cat then needed to be x-rayed... sedated.. more blood tests and another antibiotic? No dietary change, weird.nWell alright, soo, he's my boo, can do. Next? Ultrasound 3 days later! No temps, no answer to my questions from the DR. Within 2 hours of the ultrasound, my cat was unalive at my home in his cat box. The office was not helpful with cancelling results of blood tests we didn't receive results for 3 days later at the ultrasound or the ultrasound reports that weren't done the same night so we could be reimbursed. Hard to reach on the phone, staff is less than bright and present, and it was a pain to have to bring one of my dogs there regularly for weigh ins because she was right above or below the weight of her Heartguard dose, weight-wise. I thought they could suggest something otherwise orally AND to have not experienced the loss of my cat but I guess the world is an imperfect place.

Lakeshore was amazing the staff was so helpful. And Dr. Khan was so gentle and comforting. My fur cat babies didn't even freak out.
