How to Save Money at Purple Cat Mobile Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

CW for gross/medical discussion!! Brought my at the time new cats in for spay a while back but decided to share a review just to really urge any viewers that this truly is the place to get your spay/neuter done! For some context, little Munch is blind and it was my first time adopting a blind cat. I'd had her about a month before I could get her in for a spay (which, for vets in this area especially at this price point, isn't bad at all.) Before I brought her in, she was quite lethargic and would hardly move from her bed except to eat sleep and use the bathroom. I had brought her to the vet when I first got her because she came from a bad situation, and despite some minor things I cleared up quick, they couldn't find anything, so I pinned it down to the fact she was blind and was willing to love her however she needed to be even if that meant being in bed all day. Along with my other cat, Truffle who was in heat at the time, she and Munch were going to get spayed at Purple Cat. The surgery took about an hour and a half and when I came back to pick them up, the staff told me something I did not expect- Munchie had a mummified fetus in her womb still back from months before I even had her!! And of course, Dr. Angela had 0 issue dealing with it. I am working in the veterinary field myself and I know that most vets wouldn't be able to confidently do work with a case like this, but she had no problem and the suture left on Munch wasn't any bigger than Truffle's (whose surgery also went perfectly despite being in heat!). INSTANTLY, even on the strong medication provided, Munch was an entirely different cat! So lively and playful and energetic, because she must've been in so much pain before. And here I am, over a year later with my best friend who I likely wouldn't have if not for Purple Cat. I stated I worked in the veterinary field and CONSTANTLY I recommend Purple Cat to pet parents who come in with unfixed animals, because truly Purple Cat provided little Munchie with a second chance at life. I cannot place them more highly. Also, for anyone looking to do any TNR on their community cats, Purple Cat is your go to! The ease and comfort they provide knowing that those kitties will be safe in their hands even despite not knowing their medical background is huge, plus their pricing is entirely fair. Thank you Purple Cat!! Some pictures of Munch when I first got her, vs. now!!

YAY!!! Affordable Spay and Neuters!!! Purple Cat is FANTASTIC! We were quoted almost $900 at our local vet for 2, but this team did it at a fraction of the cost. It was easy, very smooth running operation, even driving from MN. We have used Purple Cat twice for kittens, and it was a great experience both times. Purple Cat has wonderful staff who clearly love animals, and I am so happy to see there is an affordable option to help the overpopulation.

Had a stray kitty in my neighborhood about two weeks ago…this clinic did a great job at getting him in quickly for neutering, shots and flea treatment. Affordable too! This little guy has since found his forever home.

Really great experience. They're very affordable and do a wonderful job. We were able to take our cat home after a few hours and he had a great recovery. We were also able to get vaccines with was a huge help. They answered all our questions when we arrived and were just all around wonderful people. If you're needing spaying or neutering services this business is a great option.
