How to Save Money at Dogwood Veterinary Dental
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dogwood has taken great care of my pets while cleaning their teeth. Their prices are much more affordable compared to my regular vet and they are very thorough with their evaluations! Thanks again for taking great care of Denali!

I sometimes feel a little crazy talking to people about my dog because I love him so much, but the staff at Dogwood Dental made me feel seen, heard, and understood. They took SUCH great care of Mac and I truly felt at ease leaving him in their care. They are professional yet loving. The entire clinic runs like a well oiled machine which is what I want for my dog. It is scary to have your pet go under anesthesia, but there is nowhere I would feel more confident in than Dogwood Dental. The dentist vet who called me and updated me about Mac’s oral health was brilliant and did a wonderful job explaining their findings in a way I could understand. Animal dentistry is expensive, but the quality of care at Dogwood is worth every penny. The colorful little welcome sign with all the patients names on it when you first walk in is also such an adorable touch. Thank you all for taking such good care of my gentle giant and keeping his teeth clean and healthy!!!

From my very first call to Dogwood they were so kind and concerned. They were very clear about procedures and expectations. On the day of procedure, I loved the little extra touch of a sign welcoming each patient for the day by name! Simple, but meant a lot by personalizing each of them. Doctor Talbott called before proceeding with news of possible cancer and gave us the option of waiting to complete the dental until after we knew. I appreciated that option because with the news she had just delivered I wasn’t thinking very clearly. We opted to go ahead anyway. When I picked him up, the gal helping me was extremely kind, took a lot of time making sure I understood the meds and directions. She even listened to me ramble without making me feel rushed. I had never even heard of this place until a couple of weeks ago but I am so happy with the care that both Tom and I received that I have no problem recommending them. Keep doing what you’re doing, Dogwood! ** UPDATE The test results were positive for a particularly aggressive cancer. We were able to keep Tom comfortable and love on him for almost two more months. Because our regular vet wouldn’t get him in for six weeks, Dr Talbott said she would follow him to the end. That comfort meant so much! I received a call from Dogwood, a couple days after his diagnosis, the staff had decided they wanted to gift us a gift certificate they had been given to Lap of Love in home euthanasia for when the time came. That was an incredible gift! Another company we will now highly recommend. Thank you again Dogwood! We miss our love bug but you made the end so much better!

My senior cat had to have 7 teeth extracted, so the procedure was pricy, but she is worth it and hopefully this will allow her to live longer and in more comfort! The staff that checked me in and out, as well as Dr. Talbott who called me right before the procedure, were all very kind, explained everything in detail, and checked in with me via text message to follow up on my cat’s care. They were also able to get me in within a few days of calling whereas my regular vet was booked out 2 months for dental procedures. Thanks to everyone at Dogwood, you all are awesome!

Dogwood is the place to go for your pets dental needs! Quick service, easy to schedule an appointment, and so much less than my Vet quoted us. Of course, my dog is worth it, but saving money and still getting exceptional service makes it a win-win! This is my dog after picking him up ~ he is smiling because his teeth feel good 🩵
