How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have been taking all 3 of my pets here for the last year and so far I’m happy with there services. They are great at following up, rescheduling of needed and listening to your concerns. They are a bit pricey but they are thorough and make sure nothing is missed in there exams. They also provide and let plan that is affordable and offers many great Benedict’s including 1 free dental saving $750 a year. Your visits are free with the plan and discounts on other treatments. All in all, I recommend Banfield to establish on going care and treatment for your pet.

From a very worried and concerned pet owner…I would like to thank the compassionate, patient, and humorous front desk staff as well as the veterinary team that took care of our fur baby, Edward. He was in pain and very unhappy. They found answers and solutions to his problem. The atmosphere in/of the clinic was relaxing and welcoming. Thank you to all that provided help and care.

The package u get is 2000.00 dollars, and you think that should be it, but no! I signed up for the Spade and Neutered program. I think Yup got this covered? No $289.00 dollars later for cone and pills. I would think if you made a package that you would put in the Basics? Just be aware of that when you sign up. "Lots of hidden fees." People are nice and nice to the animals.

Relatively overall, sometimes the checkout is very slow. They show care towards your pets. Be a good advocate for your pets and you should have a good experience!

TL;DR don't use this corporate vet You have got to be kidding me with this place! Friends warned me Banfield is not a great company after I signed up for the membership, but I thought it could be a good value for the price and what was included. But I could not have been more wrong. They have 2 membership plans with an insignificant price difference with monthly payment availabile, so anticipating my dogs needing dental cleanings I got the upper level plan. I used it fine the 1st year and stuck it out into another year, but I will not continue. We went for routine exams in the fall, had blood work done but was unable to complete one dog's dental cleaning due to blood work concerns (the other wasn't due). Scheduled a follow-up visit, left the 1st dog again only to get a call 30 mins later with an estimate for cost. It was not discussed before I left my pet for care. Unsatisfactory appointment. Now we've come back in spring for routine exams, blood work, and the dental cleanings included within the plan. Again I review concerns with the vet tech and left. Again I get a call within 60 mins, the person said "they dug deeper into the chart" (i.e. they hadn't chart reviewed well enough before the scheduled appt) to see the previous blood work concerns I mentioned when dropping my dogs off. And then they informed me because this 2nd set of labs was "attached" to the dental cleaning, if we had the same concerns as the previous visit and were unable to "utilize" the dental cleaning, then this 2nd set of labs were no longer included in the plan and would be an additional charge! The plan I pay monthly for includes 2 sets of labs and a dental cleaning (along with other things), but they never mentioned the one of the blood works being "attached" to the dental cleaning. Even though I'm paying the same price, I cannot "utilize" the blood work unless I "utilize" the dental cleaning. But here's the catch-22, I won't know if the dental cleaning cannot be completed unless we do the blood work! And if not, then at that point the blood work is no longer a covered benefit! Someone explain this logic to me?!?! They keep telling me they don't handle the design of the plans and have nothing to do with the coding or bundles included within them! Not to mention after going here for 2 years, the only person I see everytime is the front desk staff. Never the same veterinarian (if I see them at all, they still have their exam rooms closed, 3 years after the pandemic shutdown) or the same vet tech. They never seem to remember my pets even though they have files to review before seeing my dogs. I don't expect them to remember their favorite toys or treats, but they don't even seem to know what I discuss with the previous provider at the previous appt. I work in the medical field, I always review the chart before sitting the patient, I know in advance what was done last time, what is planned for that day, and any concerns or issues that were being treated or monitored. So I don't understand why we feel like new patients everytime I take my dogs to this vet! I will not be continuing care with the location or corporation. Do yourself a favor and don't start care here.
