How to Save Money at All Creatures Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I love this vet clinic. They are so kind, and can usually accommodate our needs same day/same week. We have 2 dogs, and 3 cats. They have taken such great care of our elderly cat, and has helped us in making crucial decisions for her care. They always remember us, and it makes the trips feel like we are visiting friends. I highly recommend this clinic.

All Creatures provides professional and compassionate care for your pet. It’s great not having to wait for an extended time for an appointment. Each of the vets at All Creatures take the needed time to resolve any issues your pet may have. Highly recommended.

My dog Luna has had allergies since I had her spayed. Upon my initial consultation the vet was extremely rude & disrespectful towards me. I had never had any pets that had allergy problems and I of course would have preferred to be able to resolve them with a natural solution as it would be better for Luna & would be much more affordable than the $120 every 4 to 6 weeks that it ended up costing me. So while I was going through my list of questions like would raw local honey or colostrum bolster Luna's natural immunities I was interrupted by the vet who said something like "when you're done I can tell you what actually works." I should have walked out right then. But it was a means to an end & Luna was suffering greatly with a rash covering her entire body. She turns beet red & runs a fever & my happy go lucky sweetheart of an Amstaff is just not herself & it hurts my heart to see her that way so whatever I got over it so Luna could get the care she needed. Things were OK for awhile but then I was told if I got Luna to drop some weight & got her to 55lbs that would save me money on her shots. So I put Luna on a diet & it was hard because she was always hungry & I could tell. But I want her to be around as long as possible so we got through it & Luna made her 55lb target weight. & you know what? Her shot costed more than before. I called to complain about this they tell me their cost went up & maybe I should find another veterinarian. Not to mention the $55 dollar bottle of special shampoo that I can get from Chewy for $15 & Chewy's bottle is double the volume. Same brand twice the amount of shampoo for $35 less than All Creatures was charging me. This last straw was today when I showed up 15 minutes late for my appointment because I didn't have gas to get there & was scrounging every bit of change I could find & still had to bum some change at the gas station by my house (I never do that I don't believe in something for nothing but I had no choice) & when I got there same rude lady tells me I'm late & I can either pay $35 & I'd have to leave Luna & pick her up later when they could get to her or reschedule. Luna is broken out with hives & I'm not going to make her wait any longer. I asked how long to see if I should hang out or if I had to go home. Remember I have hardly any gas. They can't tell me. They wouldn't tell me is what it really was. Because as I'm pulling into my driveway they're calling me to discuss treatment. & even though we've already gone over this skin issue they wanted me to pay $150+ to have a skin scraping sent off to lab to check for ringworm. This is not ringworm. Hold please. Well we'll treat it same as before but the vet won't release her if I don't purchase their shampoo. I already have it. Fine bring the bottle so they can be sure. So these jerks basically are doing everything they can at this point to punish me & run my bill up as high as possible because I was late because I am poor & had trouble getting enough gas to make it there. Oh & I ended up running out of gas coming back to pick up Luna. Something that was totally unnecessary but All Creatures feels that they should punish people for struggling to get by. Oh & that 15 minutes that I was late? They made sure to drag out the billing and release process so they could get that 15 minutes out of my time. Because my time isn't important at all to All Creatures Veterinary Hospital. These people have been rude disrespectful spiteful and vengeful. They have lied to me & overcharged me & behaved in ways that are nowhere near professional. They're stuck up & no understanding for the fact that life happens & from how they have dealt with me grace & kindness are far from the hearts of the staff at All Creatures Veterinary Hospital. & I haven't had to get Luna any allergy shots for a couple years now since discovering if I put a tblsp extra virgin olive oil on her kibble ṅ her water bowl & that has kept her allergies in check up until just now and it is much cheaper than allergy shots.

I took my dog here for a urinary surgery & he was given medication for a german shepherd, I understand people make mistakes however my dog is 15 pounds & that mistake could’ve very easily taken him away from me , when it was brought to their attention they just shrugged it off their shoulders as if it was no big deal , my dog was also brought here for a nail trim & they did the absolute bare minimum , staff are also condescending & rude .
