How to Save Money at Phinney Veterinary
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dr. Kari Moore and Kim were so wonderful. My girl Fiona is diabetic and has heart disease and wasn’t her normal self for a couple of days. I was leaving for a trip the next day and decided to bring her in for an urgent visit just to make sure she was okay. I normally go to Mercer Street Vet but they didn’t have any openings but their sister hospital, Phinney Vet got me in right away at 9:30. The whole experience from start to finish was excellent. Everyone was so kind and emphatic. Dr. Kari Moore was patient and explained things calmly and didn’t suggest any unnecessary tests. I also really bonded with Kim because she has a diabetic kitty of her own. They even gave Fiona at cute little bandana at the end! I highly recommend this office for your furry babies.

As a newbie in the neighborhood I was in need to find a Veterinary that could get my beautiful Doberman treated for tapeworms. Feeling concerned I googled local vets in my area and Phinney Veterinary had wonderful reviews also mentioning affordable. I was able to schedule a weekend appointment which worked out great for my work schedule. On the day of our appointment I was warmly greeted by their wonderful staff, so friendly and loving all over my dog. Dr. Kari Moore came into the office already knowing about my dog. Dr. Moore offered the best advise thoroughly explaining the best recommendation of medication and also advising on the importance of keeping my dog on preventative heart worm medication even though we are no longer living in Texas. Overall, great experience!! My beautiful Texas gal Whiska had all the treats and love she wanted.

Phinney veterinary was a great experience for me and my golden retriever. We would recommend this vet to others just from the one visit. We needed to update her vaccines and they did a great job with her mouthy behavior. They took the time to get to know her before we started any vaccines. And they updated us quickly after her vaccines were finished. I really appreciated the follow up messages after the visit to make sure she was feeling well. All of my questions and concerns were answered and they did a great job making my pup feel comfortable. Everyone was also really nice and loved our little golden. Thank you!

I rarely write Google reviews, but I need everyone to know how amazing Phinney Vet are!!! Unfortunately, my dog recently got into a Dog fight and had to be taken to the Emergency ER due to time of day of the incident. It was a traumatizing experience for both of us, but Phinney Vet staff followed-up the next day! They saw what happened and wanted to follow-up to make sure we were doing okay and if they could do anything else to help or answer any questions. The fact they reached out and showed they cared, spoke volumes to the care we receive from the staff and doctors we've seen at Phinney Vet. I wasn't expecting that type of service and I'm so thankful they are in the neighborhood and are willing to care about my dog as if it was one of their own.

I am so pleased! I just moved to Seattle from Atlanta and needed to get one of my cats in for her annual. It was easy to schedule at Phinney Veterinary and the team here rocks. I can’t emphasize enough how wonderful this vet is and I’m excited to bring my other cat in for his annual soon! Such a relief to find a kind, transparent, and comfortable vet to take care of my cats. Highly recommend!
