How to Save Money at VCA Redmond Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I brought my 4 year old cat here as a new patient today. Our entire experience for both of us couldn't have been better. All of the staff there was courteous, professional, super knowledgeable and very patient. I never felt like treatment options were forced on me, I never felt judged by declining a treatment, and I felt like all recommendations were given in the best interest of my cat rather than in the best interest of profiting the corporate pocket. As a new patient, our exam was free and the vaccine for our cat was reasonably priced at $27. I don't live nearby but this is the vet clinic that we will always be bringing our beloved pet too. Glad to have found it

This 5 star review is long overdue! Our dogs love the boarding facility here and we get photo update from instagram almost everyday when they are here. My GSD usually hates strangers but he always has such a good time here and it actually helped him learn how to interact with other doggies and hoomans. My smaller dog gets a lot of exercise and that’s exactly what he needs!

We took our dog at the Rose Hill VCA for years until we moved, and taking her to the Redmond location made more sense. Since we don't take her to doggie daycare and a lot of locations require this to board, we decided to check out the boarding at VCA for our family trips this summer. I was quoted a price of $43 for two 4-day boarding stints this summer, months in advance. When I received the boarding paperwork a few days before our trip, the listed price was $73/day with no explanation or notice. At that point, finding another location for her to board was not an option. The helpful staff member at the door when I brought her explained that they had unexpectedly raised the price just the previous week. When I phoned later, after paying my bill, about my frustration that my quoted price was not honored, it took weeks for someone to get back to me (despite the kind and understanding efforts of John, the receptionist, who is always helpful to the utmost). I asked if the quoted price could be honored and was told that may be possible in the form of a credit (not a refund -- but I was ok with this). I understood that there was a family emergency that called the manager away from some time. We again took our dog to board since our second trip, a couple of weeks later, was too close to find other accommodations given our busy schedule, and when I was billed for that stay, the discount ("honoring the previously quoted price") was applied with no verbal followup, in the amount of $24. Given that the extra charges for the first time were about $30/day over 4 days, this is just a meager attempt to honor the agreement when I booked boarding. Though we've had good experiences with the vet staff and anyone caring for our dog, I am disappointed that the management doesn't seem to care much about customer service or making things right. (To be clear, I understood I would be paying the new price for the second boarding, and didn't seek any discount on that, even though I booked both stays at the same time months ago.) I'll be looking for another place to board my dog because I don't feel like a valued customer at VCA.

While the overall staff was very helpful and friendly, the front receptionist person the one that's an older male(white/asian?) was not. He actively put me in a psychotic state just because I forgot my mask in my car because I was in such a rush from work to see my long lost cat snow angel(lost for 2 years) after I got an email notification that my lost cat was found. I rushed in the animal hospital but instead of a receptionist telling me politely to put on a mask I was met with a angry and anxious yell telling me to leave. This person basically yelled at me, did not apologies, proceeded to assume as nothing had happened. He put me in a psychotic episode. I had to leave the animal hospital for 10min and be at the side of the hospital just to reorganize myself I have paranoid schizophrenia, all I wanted was my lost cat to be safe. I did not have to deal with my mental health issues that day also. I will never come back just because of this guy, sorry I just don't want to deal w/ him ever again in this lifetime.
