How to Save Money at Companion Animal Wellness Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I bring my tiny guy, Doug, in. He’s a small-breed pup but has some tummy sensitivities. They’re always accommodating and kind. I came here on the recommendation of some friends with dogs and am so glad I did. Every person here is kind and sweet with Doug, and also know how to handle worrywart dog owners like me!

Both of my dogs are patients at CAWR and I could not be more grateful for them. My dog (Goose, Malamute, 4) had some pretty traumatic experiences in emergency care and is extremely anxious and reactive at the Vet, but Dr. Stevens never makes me feel bad about it (which has happened in the past). My puppy (7 mo. Doberman, Duck) adores Dr. Stevens and is over the moon every time we go in -- I have to practically drag her out to leave. Despite my dogs extremely different reactions to the vet's office, I feel they both are treated with the same amount of love and care -- they really put the well being of my babies above all else and I couldn't be more grateful to them. They have never hesitated to fit us in for an emergency, advocate for Goose's well being despite his reactions, I always feel listened to and allow us to make "happy visits" -- overall just a wonderful team of people. We adore the staff and will be patients here for the rest of their lives. Can't say enough good things about them. We were referred by two of our neighbors and we continue to refer any of our neighbors looking for a new Veterinarian.

My dog Mud and I have used Companion since she was puppy. Everyone there absolutely adored her and treated her with the top quality care a single dog dad could hope for! Dr. Stevens is a rock star, she beams with compassion for animals. She also referred me to a live abroad dog trainer whom her college classmate was the kennel vet. That was an unbelievably positive experience for my dog and myself. After moving away and unfortunately having to find a new vet, the staff has been extremely helpful in providing all the info needed to transfer with a helpful smile! Just an all around great group of humans, who you can completely trust you furry friend with!

Going to let you in on a little secret, this vet office is one of the kindest and most efficient offices I've ever encountered. This vet is wonderful, from the reception staff, to the vet techs, as well as Dr. Lisa and Dr. Kate! They are compassionate and loving. My sweet Callie dog has struggled with skin allergies and they took the time to give me detailed and straight forward advice on the diagnosis, options for medical intervention and the prognosis Very fair pricing, I didn't feel like I was being "upsold" on anything when we came in. If you want a great veterinary office that will treat your pet like family with reasonable pricing and ensuring that no stone is unturned, you have to bring your dog here. Thank you to the staff at Companion Animal Wellness Center, for all the love and care you give our dog!

Dr Newnham and her staff show the level of care, compassion and empathy that goes above and beyond of what I have ever experienced from the vet clinic. They helped our family to get through the tough times when our dog, Benny, became terminally ill. I am so grateful for them.
