How to Save Money at VCA Meadowdale Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
VCA vet is amazing! Very friendly staff who answer the phone quickly. They send out reminders. On top of all that they check on how visits went after a few days via text. This is a huge bonus because you can answer on your own time and feels very personalized. They also provide affordable pet care plans. 10/10 would HIGHLY recommend.

3 Dogs - $900 for Vaccines!!! We have taken our dogs to the VCA Meadowdale Location for almost 10 years now and have always liked the service HOWEVER… I took my 3 healthy schnauzers in there 2 weeks ago for vaccines and walked out with a bill for almost $900!!! I called them back right after I left the office that day and asked to speak with someone regarding the charges and it took them 13 days to call me back and when they did it was the front desk person who really can’t answer any questions or make any decisions in the way of the charges. I thought the office manager or at least one of the Vet’s would have called me, Not the front desk kid who caught the brunt of my frustration. So unfortunately I’ll be on the hunt for a new vet!

This is probably the worst vet I’ve been to so far… it’s also the most expensive. You have a 45min slot with your vet and when it’s done they literally just walk out and don’t come back, even if you still have unresolved questions. The front desk staff (and the vets/vet techs) are extremely rude. They stood on his tail and said “oh I didn’t know he was standing there”. They didn’t answer any questions with a straightforward answer they contradicted themselves so much. My cat got sick after coming here so we brought him back to figure out what’s wrong and they didn’t know. They took him to the back for an injection and didn’t tell us they’d try getting urine (he’s very sensitive in that area due to urinary issues) and we just heard him screeching from the back and they didn’t say anything until we asked and they just awkwardly laughed. He was sick and not eating and the vet tech said he looks like he has some extra storage and would be good loosing a few pounds, he was literally sick and not eating for a few days! The vet tech that did his shots made a snarky comment and was so rude when they took him to the back. They just pushed their food and a bunch of other stuff he didn’t need. Kept mixing his stuff up saying we need to bring something in we already brought and the communication was just awful. They also used a lot of scare tactics to try get us to use their products. Definitely wouldn’t recommend.

They take good care of our dogs....however.... They chronically overbook, with almost no drop in slots (basically, any urgent needs, and you have to look elsewhere). They also pushed us to buy a care club membership...which is specific to their clinic location...cant even use it at another VCA...despite what the website says.

I have been with VCA meadowdale since I first rescued my pittie 8.5 years ago. She has now passed and am in their care again with my new rescue. The staff here is absolutely OUTSTANDING. We have seen every provider and every assistant here. And every single person is the most gentle, kind, and caring human being I’ve ever met. Their love and passion for the animals who come through their door radiates throughout the clinic. Janet, Shawn, and Sam at the front are always so pleasant whenever I call. They have walked me through the most challenging times leading up to euthanasia of my sweet girl Dutchess. The love and care in their hearts throughout the entire process is something I’ll never forget. Dr. Tossen and her assistant always tell me the truth. I’m never left feeling unsure. And again, the most gentle, kind, and loving souls. Their care during losing my sweet girl made me feel safe and loved. They walked me through every step leading up to it. I never felt rushed or judged. And their grace and kindness through everything I will always be eternally thankful for. I am forever grateful for the staff here. Their care is above and beyond perfection. Thank you for taking such great care of us. I am so grateful to have you care for my new rescue. I always look forward to coming to see you all!
