How to Save Money at Critter Doctor Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
After searching far and wide for a compassionate vet who cares about the critters and not the price tag, this place is a godsend. We have taken three of our pets here and are so happy we found them. I can even make next day appointments, which has been wonderful, as one of our cats passed last year because we couldn’t find a vet with any openings. Thank you for loving animals and not just a paycheck, we are so thankful for you!

I really really wanted to like this clinic because it's walking distance from my home and it would have been so nice for my cats to not have to deal with car ride stress when going to the vet. However, their policy is that they do not allow you to watch how they interact with your pet at all and I cannot feel comfortable with that. I wasn't even able to meet the vet who would be performing the exam before they wanted to separate us. My cat and I are closely bonded and she would have been drastically more anxious apart from me, just as I was apart from her. I've never encountered that policy with a vet before and we had exams performed in the room with me with our previous 3 vets. My cats are sweet and non-problematic at the vet and we've never had any issues doing that. I wish they cared enough about client comfortability to have some flexibility in that regard. I asked a million times why and I'm still not entirely sure what their reasoning for the strict policy was - it didn't make adequate sense to me. I will be finding my cats a vet that prioritizes everyone's comfort. Very bummed about this one. :( the prices seemed good and the vet seemed good in our brief interaction afterward, but the policy made me too uncomfortable to proceed. All any good pet owner would want is some basic reassurance that they would be kind and caring towards their pets and you can't get that from strangers that you never have and never will see interact with them..

Dr Kat was great to work with! She was super friendly, and went slow and steady with my senior dog. He was so happy and cooperative because of how patient she was, I appreciated that so much! I'll definitely be bringing my dog here from now on.

My cat Illy was very sick and I was unable to get him into my regular clinic or emergency because they were both full. I got the critter doctors phone number from Redmond emergency. The critter doctor acted immediately when I called. They were able to see my kitty for a drop off appointment and ran labs in house for him. I was relieved to get my kitty treatment so quickly and grateful to them for taking me on such short notice. They were very professional and my kitty is doing so much better. Thank you so much critter doctor for all your help and diligence.

Our dog is a frequent flier here and they have always been fantastic, up front and give you all the options for whatever may arise. Our dog gets excited rather than dreading the trip to the vet.
