How to Save Money at Lake Meridian Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Could not have found a better place -- Lifesavers! My two girls needed a USDA certified vet to be able to come to Denmark -- and their current personal vet does not provide such a service. I found Lake Meridian Animal hospital and they saw my girls 8 days before the trip, finished all the paperwork, and I sent it off. The USDA needed a minor correction and they immediately called me to sort it out. I got my forms certified with great timing 3 days before my travel and my two girls are having an absolute blast in Denmark. A big thanks to Dr. Gambriell and Sarah for the excellent work.

We went here to get our one year old cat neutered. It's been almost two weeks since then, and he seems to be doing well. They demonstrated good communication throughput the process and the price was reasonable so we are considering having them be the primary doctor for our two cats. Would recommend 10/10. Thank you for helping us with our baby boy. He seems a lot calmer already.

This Animal Hospital is the best that I have been to In years. The receptionists are so nice and accommodating, I was greeted the moment I stepped through the door, and I was checked in and ready to be put in a room within just a couple of minutes. And even though they don't accept walk-ins anymore they gave me amazing recommendations as to where I could go that would take me immediately, and they were able to call ahead the hospital to get my records there easily. When the Vet assistant came out to bring us into a room she was super nice and made my furry baby so comfortable because he was so anxious about being there. The Dr. That saw us was named Dr. Jung and he was the most knowledgeable Veterinarian I have ever had the pleasure of working with he spent so much time with us and answered every question I had and put to rest a lot of my worries that I had about my dog's ear infection I could tell that he very much cared about the well-being of my fur baby and that we were much more than just a"patient" with him. He even took the time to come back out to the waiting room after all of the services were rendered and tell me how he did during his visit and explain to me in a way I could understand what my dog's test results meant. I can honestly say that I will be using this vet for the rest of my pet's life. Once the appointment was completed I checked out again with the receptionist and they were extremely helpful in explaining what they have to offer known as the "paw plan" which helps with the costs of the well care of your pet for the whole year at a very reasonable monthly price and since I live on a very tight budget it was perfect for me, they had many different options and packages but the one that fit for us was perfect and after all is said and done I will have saved over $400. I would highly recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone who wants the best quality care for the best price. Thank you Lake Meridian Animal Hospital for everything. Monica B.
