How to Save Money at Riverview Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The best animal clinic ever. Dr. Meyer and his staff are amazing especially Irene who does the PT and cold laser therapy. I nearly put my baby down as he could no longer walk but with time treatments and encouragement he is back to walking and living life. So thankful to this clinic and a staff of caring individuals ❤️

Our Buford had to have ACL repair surgery as well as several teeth pulled. The staff has treated us with so much love and care. Buford is healing nicely.

I've taken my pup to Riverview for his first year checkups/shots from 7 weeks to 14 months. I have to say that their staff is fantastic. Vets are young and energetic. You can see they care about the animals they see. The techs are friendly and welcoming and have a smile on their face through constant ringing phones and a busy waiting room. This is a good fit for us and Tater!

Best vets in the Valley! I'm completely and totally smitten with German Shorthairs, own six, and there's probably only been 10 of my 44 years I wasn't living with a few of them. Active hunting dogs, at least some, make injuries a way of life they're so reckless being boisterous. Anywho, I was a long customer of Southway, whose owner my family knew very well, and things were always decent there until all the new vets took over. I hate rocking the boat, as I do making negative rating posts to hurt businesses on their page, but the manner in which the new vets treated me dismissively, after having cross words with my mother when her dog had an emergency, was incredibly unprofessional, and frankly just wildly surprising having brought numerous pets to them for decades, spending tens of thousands of dollars in the process adding my parents in who also left, and Dr Ard just seemed to not give a damn about losing clients he had since he opened, on his way out anyway, which brings me to Riverview Clinic. A few years before I left Southway completely, my youngest male GSP got the dreaded cheet in his foot. It's something I'm always feeling down 24 individual paws for every other day, and I missed his unfortunately when he was barely a year old, which if you aren't aware is very serious, requiring immediate medical intervention lest it burrow ever farther into their bodies. Dogs have had amputations, even died from it. So I brought him to Southway, obviously, and they cut his entire paw open to remove it. He got home, and not a couple of weeks later, no new injuries, his paw and leg begin to swell, and he's got a chronic limp bareky and adult. Southway takes him into surgery again, makes me pay the same high price, for a job they botched, and then it happened a third time, after thr second! I probably should've seen the writing on the wall at that point, my mother, who'd been with me the 2nd or 3rd run, had said the new vets acted as if it was my carelessness behind their incomplete surgeries that I paid times three, and anyone who knows me, let alone those young vets who saw me vaccinate all nine of my litter pups, always revaccinating ever 3 years afterward, because yearly vaccines aren't necessary when the prior vaccine is still very much active, let alone all my many boo boo visits I paid a fortune. Then my younger male's dad got cheet! By that point I'd lost a great deal of trust, they owed me money, but I called anyway out of misplaced loyalty, and they simply said they were booked full, and I could call the next day! Unbelievably unacceptable, and no I never didn't pay off my bill within a couple of weeks, and while I knew Riverview could be a bit more spendy, I headed in anyway, and unlike Southway once again, if you call them right at 8am, they'll do their damnedest to get your pet squeezed in that day, or latest the next. None of that sorry we can't help, because you haven't vaccinated by appt every year because you better let us milk you or else treatment I'd just gotten! They got my boy in at noon, told me they'd call if they could squeeze him in, and that they did. But the "surgery" was an even bigger eye opener. I was expecting the most beautiful male GSP I've ever seen out of hundreds, to come stumbling out at 5pm with a fully bandaged leg, that had been completely cut open. Finn walks out with nothing at all on his foot, and they even have the full piece if cheet in a bag stapled to the bill. Half the price of Southway, soon find out they use a hypodermic device with suction and an x-ray to accomplish removal, which leaves a tiny hole in between their toes or leg that's healed in two days doing no after care! And that was the moment I knew I'd never return to Southway, who apparently are just fine losing a gold mine that had been giving them pay dirt for 20 years. And all my visits since these last 4 years have gone equally as well, always friendly, they're also willing to give responsible customers the leeway of paying a bill over 2-4 weeks if asked. Very happy customer.
