How to Save Money at Willow Animal Hospital LLC
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We love Willow! Dr. Smith has the biggest heart and will bend over backwards to take care of any animal that needs him! The office knows my dog by name, we've been in a lot and they worked with us to keep our bill lower until the issue resolved. The service our dog has received here has been incredible! Also, super clean facility!! We love the techs and vets here! They are amazing!!!

Willow Animal Hospital is a fairly new practice in Warrenton, but the team isn't! We were referred to Dr Smith after having an urgent dental situation that other vets either couldn't or wouldn't take care of. One call to Willow Animal Hospital and we were in the car on our way! Dr Smith and his entire team went over and above what any normal vet practice would do to accommodate our boy Tito to ensure his issue (loose - probably hurtful tooth) was taken care of. We are all, especially Tito, grateful for the teams dedication and willingness to take such amazing care. If you have any doubts, don't! Go to their website and click on 'about' and you will get a very good understanding of why Dr Smith is the angel that he is.

I discovered Willow in September 2022 when my “regular” vet didn’t have availability for more than two weeks to examine my farm cat who had just been found after 26 days missing. I am so grateful that it worked out the way it did! Dr. Ballou has become our new “regular” vet, and she’s amazing. She has since also seen my two dogs, diagnosing my senior chi with a significant heart murmur that he’s now being treated for by a cardiologist, and successfully treating a chronic allergy/yeast problem that has plagued my Lab mix for two years. She is wonderful with animals, answers all of my dozens of questions, and doesn’t rush the exam nor suggest unnecessary testing. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, the front desk staff is friendly, and the techs are super knowledgeable. There is plenty of parking and their rates are reasonable. Yes, it’s out of the way (I live in Fairfax County), but it’s well worth the trip to have a vet I trust! I highly recommend Willow Animal Hospital (and Dr. Ballou)!

I have never in my life met such amazing people all in one place!!! I never thought I would be walking in to lay my cat down to rest. It was hard to understand and process what was going on with him it all happen so fast. Dr. Smith helped me the best that he could to understand the situation. I appreciate him and the employees for the care that they have for pets and the customers that walk through that door. Thank you 🐈⬛😇

This clinic is fantastic. Called them for a semi-emergent situation and they were able to squeeze me in the same day. They even took extra steps to accommodate my reactive dog. Dr. Smith and Brooke were wonderful. I would highly recommend them!
