How to Save Money at Strawbridge Animal Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional staff at Strawbridge Animal Care. When we brought our mini Aussie in, thinking she had eaten a grape, we were devastated to discover that her liver was failing and she had developed a secondary autoimmune response known as IMHA. The situation was overwhelming, but thanks to the remarkable team at Strawbridge, particularly Dr. Nunez and Dr. German, our stress was eased, and our little baby received the best care possible. Dr. Nunez went above and beyond to ensure our peace of mind during this challenging time. His expertise and compassionate approach were invaluable. Dr. German took over from there and diligently worked to restore our little girl's health. We are forever grateful for their dedication and expertise. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the incredible technicians and assistants at Strawbridge Animal Care. Tony, who ensured we were seen promptly so we didn't have to endure a long wait in the car with our cranky 11-month-old, was a lifesaver. Christy, Amber (both of them), and all the other staff members who were part of Harper's week-long stay deserve special recognition. Their commitment and care were instrumental in Harper's recovery. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude to the entire team at Strawbridge Animal Care. Your expertise, professionalism, and genuine concern for the well-being of our furry family member made all the difference. Without any of you, we truly couldn't have navigated this challenging journey.

We love the doctors and staff at Strawbridge Animal Care and so do our dogs! We have two very large dogs with very unique personalities. One is super laid back and sweet, and the other is extremely excitable and bounces off the walls during his visits. They never seem flustered or bothered by our wild guy and work to keep him as calm as possible, while making it a positive experience for him. They both love going to the vet and as an owner I feel like all of my questions and concerns are met each visit.

We have used Strawbridge Animal Care on several occasions when our puppies had various urgent care needs arise and we were unable to get appointments with our regular vet. We have seen both Dr Nunez and Dr Stephens as well as several of their staff members. Everyone we encountered was efficient, compassionate, and kept us well informed every step of the way during our visits. They were able to quickly get our fur babies feeling better after being diagnosed with kennel cough, hives, and cystitis. Highly recommend!!!

We adopted a puppy several months ago and have been pleased with the staff and service at Strawbridge Animal Care. We see Dr. Griffin, who is super sweet with pups and their people. Chris is also excellent. The information and options they’ve given is have been helpful - from recommending our pup’s spay be performed at 10-12 months vs 6-7 (helps with their knee development) or reconsidering certain vaccinations that aren’t really needed locally. I feel like they have my (and my dog’s) best interests at heart. I also love that they use an app that reminds me when things are due, and I can make appointments online.

I have nothing but GREAT things to say about Strawbridge Animal Care! The staff and veterinarians are AMAZING; so kind, professional, and knowledgeable. They care for your furry family members as if they are their own, and no one can ask for more than that. We have been to two other local clinics, but they do not even compare. I HIGHLY recommend entrusting care of your furry loved ones to Strawbridge Animal Care as we have for several years now!
