How to Save Money at Coastal Vet
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Top-notch vets, professional staff, comprehensive care, and high-end facility. Dr. Hofmeister & Dr. Cromwell are wonderful and have helped us countless times. We've been members for over a year, and we'll never go anywhere else. It's so nice that they're only a text and/or phone call away since being a member includes 24/7 care. Thanks for all you do for Maddox.

We met with Dr. Hofmeister with our girls for a tour and discuss our plans for caring for our girls. The staff was amazing and she was so kind and patient with us. The facility is clean, everyone is pleasant and I love that I can be with my nervous girl for procedures. Lisa the membership advisor answered all our questions on the phone. We never felt pressured into one of their higher end plans, & she understood it just doesn’t fit right now because of our current wellness insurance that we prepaid. But most of all, they loved on our Golden Girls while we were talking. We are so happy to have found them and appreciate their kindness and patience as we love our girls so much and only want the best!

The first time in the clinic Bodie Ray and I saw Dr. Hofmeister who met us with such grace, demonstrated professionalism and truly cared about Bodie and what had brought him and I to the vet that day. That day, I signed up as a member and it was the best decision I have ever made for Bodie in terms of healthcare. With Coastal Vet offering a 24/7 emergency line to members, I never feel alone in caring for him. Unfortunately, a while back Bodie was attacked and I was as well. He was bleeding out of his neck and also had bites in his inner thigh area and the only two vet options (at the time) were unable to see him for 8 hours as the Dr's had just stepped into surgery. It left me feeling horrible as a dog mom because there was simply no solution. I would never wish that feeling on any pet owner. Coastal Vet IS the SOLUTION! Since then, Bodie had an emergency come up with his GI system along with allergies. When he got sick I called the emergency line as a member and Dr. Cromwell did not get off the phone with me until I fully understood her instructions, what to look out for and so on. Dr. Cromwell offered to see Bodie at ANY time. I had to work the next day and did not want him home alone. My plan was to bring him to his normal daycare and have them put him in a private room. When I told Dr. Cromwell my plan without hesitation she told me to drop Bodie off at the clinic before I went into work and that he could stay there all day with her and her team. I busted into tears because I have never witnessed this level of care and genuine compassion. Dr. Cromwell explained Bodies condition to me in ways I could understand (and Bodie was paying attention too!! see picture for a visual). She is extremely thorough, intelligent, personable and caring. Dr. Cromwell and Dr. Hofmeister are truly the most knowledgeable veterinarians that I have ever met. Their entire team is simply unmatched. I could not be more thankful for Coastal Vet and all they have done for Bodie Ray. I highly recommend Coastal Vet to anyone who has a pet that they love. THANK YOU COASTAL VET!

We can't say enough great things about this vet clinic! The entire team was incredibly kind and welcoming. You can tell they truly love animals and care about their well-being. Our dog Simba is always a little nervous, but they immediately put him at ease. It was clear they were dedicated to making sure he felt comfortable. They took great care of Simba and made the whole experience as stress-free as possible. I’m so grateful to have found such a compassionate and professional clinic. Highly recommend!

I cannot tell you enough good things about this place! I’m so sad that we are not from the area and were only visiting when we had to bring our pup in for emergency care. I truly wish we can have this type of service and care in our hometown. Our dog suddenly had a swollen eye lid during our last day on vacation and I found them right down the street from our hotel. They were able to see him within 2 hours of my call. From the moment we walked in we were greeted immediately by the front staff who walked us straight into an exam room. Dr. Cromwell was nothing but amazing and really took her time to explain the situation to us. They were also really reasonably priced, normally our vet would cost us an arm and a leg. My husband and I just kept raving about this place after we left. We were truly blown away by the service, the hospitality, and how quick everything was. Thank you!
