How to Save Money at Bay Beach Veterinary Emergency Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
2 stars - August 2023- In February 2023 I gave this place a five star review (posted below). But after todays experience, I’m rating this place a 2. Our dog was barely breathing when we arrived. We arrived at 6am this morning and The receptionist (who was very sweet) tells me that the doctor is off work in 20 minutes and is really trying to leave and they won’t have another doctor until 8am. I told the receptionist that our dog couldn’t even walk and was having trouble breathing. Luckily they took our pup in on a stretcher. After 30 minutes of waiting in the room, the receptionist tells me that the vet says Daisy dog is on her way out. The vet was in such a hurry she wouldn’t even have a word with us until we asked the receptionist if she could talk to us. Finally when the vet came to talk to us she said that She wasn’t able to give our dog an exam or get to her but that she was having shortness of breath and that it looked like it was time to put her down. No sympathy, no sorry, her attitude felt cold and we had to ask to say goodbye to our dog. She made us feel like an inconvenience because she wasn’t off on time. This is a 24 hour emergency vet! They need to have more staff. And the vet needs to be more friendly. The male vet we had on our first visit was amazing. This female vet was so cold, rude, and rushed. I hope we never have to come back here. It made our already stressful experience even worse. We ended up putting our dog down and then paid and left. Luckily the receptionist was so sweet to us. I give that lady 5 stars. I wish she was the vet. 5 stars- Feb 2023- We recently had to put our dog down her at Bay Beach. The staff was so kind and didn’t rush us through the process. We didn’t feel like we were just another client. My husband and I both felt that our situation truly mattered. Thank you bay beach for being so kind during this difficult time. and also thank you for the handwritten card that was so sweet!!

I want to thank the vet technician who provided extraordinary customer service during such a difficult and emotional time. Their compassion, patience, and understanding made the news of the need to euthanize my cat a little easier to bear. I am forever grateful to the entire team at Bay Beach Veterinary Emergency Hospital for their exceptional care, and I would highly recommend their services to anyone in need of compassionate veterinary care. Five-star care all around! Thank you Shay and DVM Renfro 😩😩

Losing my emotional support fur baby, or nearly a decade, I called in panic to this very vet. They were truly empathetic, attentive, and supportive. I brought my baby in and they treated her with care and respect. They allowed me to grieve and be with her as long as I needed to be. It’s very challenging losing an animal you love that becomes family, but this place will make you feel like family also. Whatever emergency you’re going through (hopefully it’s not like mine) but the people here understand love for animals. They are empathetic and caring. If I could go back to what number I would dial during this crisis, I would choose them. You always want to be surrounded by people like them during these challenging times. The people who work here are definitely a gift to others and with their compassion, I would’ve trusted them in any other situation. Thank y’all so much for being there during this challenging time. Also, thank you for the heartfelt card. Truly meant so much!

Bay Beach was awesome when my dog was throwing up clots of blood. We called and when we got there they saw the urgency in his case and took care of him right away! He was severely dehydrated and had a mass in his stomach. I was so nervous but I felt at ease & confident that he would get the best care! Thank you bay beach! Axle is back to being his happy healthy self!

We took in our dog, Ozzy because she was having shortness of breath. Turns out she had aspiration pneumonia. We’re so thankful for the whole team at Bay Beach for taking such great care of her!
