How to Save Money at Abbey Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Abbey Animal Hospital fixed my poor baby right up! She had an abscess tooth that had to be pulled, and they took the best care of her! They were patient with her and treated her as if she was their own! Destiny was such an amazing help when I was anxious and by default my Daisy girl was anxious. They educated my husband and I on everything and were also very patient with all of our questions! I am so grateful to their entire staff for fixing my fur baby!

I had the worst back-to-back experiences. I chose this hospital due to its proximity to my house, the reasonable exam fee cost (I found out why the hard way), and the 4.2/5 star reviews on Google. I should have been more thorough in reading the reviews on other sites so that is my fault. I want to help save the next owner from a horrendous experience and a waste of $. 1st Appt My first appt was at the end of Dec for my two cats to have check-ups and get updated vaccinations for the year. The waiting area was loud and chaotic. They have a dog day care connected to the waiting area, so dogs were barking loudly the entire time. They have two parrots who are permanent residents in the waiting area who are non-stop squawking and screeching and the women sitting at the front desk just nicely holler at them to be quiet the entire time. I have never been in a vet office that was so unwelcoming to timid or nervous animals. The vet never introduced herself to me when she came into the room, she never examined my male cat (but charged me an exam fee) and gave me the incorrect dosage for a prescription I needed. 2.5 HOURS later, I finally got out of there. 2nd Appt I had to come back 3 weeks later to get my cats their boosters. The vet tech was extremely disorganized and was asking me basic questions that made me completely question her credibility. I find out through conversation with her that they gave one of my cats the WRONG vaccination the first time. At this point, I'm FUMING. She takes my cats back into another room to get their vaccinations, all the while, there is music BLASTING in the large surgical room where they take the animals for procedures. I find this extremely thoughtless and careless in an environment where most animals already have vet-associated anxiety. Then, while I'm waiting for the vet to come in and conduct her "exam" which consists of listening to the cats' heartbeats and nothing more, ($56 each for that), I see on the floor of the exam room, dried blood from a previous animal. Who knows how long that was there, but it's clear that they DO NOT clean the rooms between each patient. That's disgusting and poor patient care. Who knows how many infected animals come into this hospital. I will NEVER be coming back to this clinic. Unprofessional, disorganized, dirty, loud, and poor service.

Love this vet! As a first time dog owner we wanted to do everything right. We love the doggy daycare for our pup! It’s great for socialization as well as to get her energy out. She’s also always excited to go!

Dr. Roubidoux (I hope I’m spelling that right) is amazing! She shows compassion and professionalism when handling our pets. The vet tech that came in with her the last two times we saw her was fabulous. These two are friendly and explain the care your pets are receiving thoroughly. They also bring in a very detailed estimate where you can elect or decline anything on that form and they stick to what you approve. I’ve never felt pressured to get more than I thought was necessary. The front desk staff is friendly and approachable. They’re also very responsive over the phone. These folks truly care about your pets 🩵 Thanks in particular for your patience and understanding with Bennie and Marigold. Even though they may not know it they are lucky to have the staff at Abbey!
