How to Save Money at The Regional Veterinary Referral Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Have been to Regional several times over the span of the last 15 years. They saved the life of my husky 15 years ago. They were compassionate with us as we thought we were going to lose our little girl. She made a full recovery from ingesting a full bottle of Advil. Have a two year old lab that has the same issue. Has swallowed two balls at the dog parks. My primary vet stated that surgery was needed the first time after taking a panel of x-rays. They sent us to Regional who took us immediately. We were walking out with big smiles on our faces 20 minutes later after they induced him to throw up the ball. Same thing happened again this week, and we went straight to Regional. Same result. Took us straight in and we were on our way home within 30 minutes. Very cost conscious. The combined two emergency vet bills were less than the one at the primary vet. As a result we have changed to Town and Country on Arlington Boulevard in Fairfax.

I wanted to take a moment to thank all the staff at the hospital because your team was crucial at many instances of his life, you gave the best care to my baby many times over many days, especially this last year. For some reason he was chosen to have many health complications but he was also blessed to have people around to care for him and some of those people are you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. May God keep blessing each of you for the great mission you do every day.

Arrogant doctors and staff. They must teach the employees how to be condescending and rude in orientation. After having my dog for four hours I get a call from the vet that essentially said your pet ate for us, not sure what your problem is. I have known EMTs that have a GED with better bedside manner and professionalism. But the staff all seemed like they were having fun laughing and looking at their Instagram while customers waited. My favorite part was when the vet tech brought out my dog with the leash installed upside down and attached to her collar instead of the harness she was wearing after having received a water injection in her neck. When confronted she just turned and ran away. Nice. I ended up going to a different emergency vet that actually diagnosed an issue with my pet and she is doing much better. Unless you want to make a donation to this business I suggest going elsewhere.

This place was horrible. Terry at the front desk and Dr. Juan Sardinas were rough. The bedside manner was all about the cost and the down payment. Questions were brushed off & not very eager to give explanations . It was tooth & nail. Lots of arrogance & insensitivity & rush. Even the assistant that the Dr. called in was rough with my puppy. Just ugly. You can feel it was just business as usual ‘ performance .

I wanted to give a shout-out to the staff here at RVRC. Even though we had an unfortunate ending and our girl didn’t make it, the staff was caring and thoughtful and gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbye. We can’t thank them enough for their quick response and empathy during a very hard time for us.
