How to Save Money at Vots

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Wait was long, but what can you expect for a discounted vaccine clinic? Once it was our turn, they got us in and out! And the prices are amazing. Our only issue is that they forgot to register my kittens microchip, so when I went to try to sign in to add myself and my partner, it’s asking me to purchase the lifetime registration which the website says is included with the purchase of a microchip. So I’m working on getting that sorted out. Other than that I am so happy with my experience and I’ll be coming back every time I need to get my cats vaccinated💜

The staff are amazing , the manager not so much. The front and back desk ladies are always kind and understanding, the vet techs are always willing to help and explain if you don't understand, but the way you see the manager treating their wonder staff breaks my heart some days.

I was happy when I finally found this place where my pets could be treated without drugging them. But today I had bad luck. If your pet is the nervous type, make sure Dr David is there, he knows how to treat pets. The replacement doctors do not have a bit of professionalism when treating "difficult" pets. Today I waited approximately 4 hours and when finally my turn came, they immediately returned with my pet covered up to the head saying that it was impossible to work with "Your dog almost ate us" (I put a muzzle on my pet even, other times real doctors even take it hands free, and I didn't have to put it on) If 3 people can't handle a small Chihuahua, it really makes me wonder how they will come up with other situations. The sad part is that this is not the first time I have encountered these types of "doctors." In another case, my dog was almost dying, and I took him to an "emergency hospital" waiting for hours in the early morning and when my turn came... They discriminated against me and threw my dog to the ground when my pet reacted badly. It was late, I was tired, everything was closed and with good reason because it was holyday. The only person who could help me that day didn't, this case was worse than the first of course, but today's treatment made me remember it.

I have always used the affordable vet care at care a lot for my dogs annual vaccinations. affordable vet care was so friendly and sweet to my dog despite his anxiety of new places and new people. today I took my beagle to get his annual vaccinations and the female asian tech from vots was RUDE. to start, she acted like a drill instructor while asking us questions about our beagle like she did not want to be there or care about him at all. I know she saw how anxious my dog was as I carried him to get his weight and she refused to take our leash or our dog physically when they took him back for his shots. she just kept telling us to drop our leash while she had a part of the retractable line and when we let go, she did not stop it from hitting our dog. then the whole time they were giving him vaccinations we could hear her yelling at our dog while he was crying and im sure scared to death. then she dragged him out at the end and again was basically giving us orders to get us out of there as quickly as possible. we usually come to get his vaccinations every year at care a lot but after this interaction we will be finding somewhere else to get his vaccinations.
