How to Save Money at Hilton Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Hands down the BEST animal hospital in town! We took two of our dogs in due to liver conditions, surgeries, and so on. Both of our babies were taken care of & in good hands. Dr. Fink & his team were kind, attentive, professional, and remarkable all around! We are so lucky to have Dr. Fink! Thank you Hilton Family!! We highly RECOMMEND this vet!!

Just took our dog Dixie here to be seen. She has been having a real hard time with her symptoms and she saw Dr. Ward. What an amazing and caring doctor!!! Her bedside manner is the best ive ever seen in a vet. She was extremely thorough in explaining everything and we took all of her recommendations as far as testing goes. It is obvious her goal is to provide the best care possible for all her patients and not "upsell" like i have seen with other places. While we have a long road ahead of us with testing to figure out whats going on with our sweet girl, we have the utmost confidence that she is in the best hands possible with Dr. Ward and staff at Hilton Vet Hospital. Her vet tech was absolutely just as amazing and caring. I think her name is Brooke and I apologize if I got the name wrong. Hilton is the only place we will be taking our animals to for care. What a great place!!

I switched to Hilton after leaving my previous RDVM. I couldn’t be happier and more impressed. Dr K is amazing. I had a 4.5yr old chihuahua (Blackjack) that she saw one time before he passed away. He had numerous medical problems due to being inbred. When I got him I knew he wouldn’t live a long life. Dr K listened to his whole life story intently, consulted with Dr Fink on a few things with his seizure medication and would text to check on him. She called me one day about one of my other pets, and before she got off the phone she asked me how Blackjack was doing with his meds. I really loved that even though the initial phone call wasn’t about him, she still wanted to know how he was. When he passed, even having only seen him once, I got a beautiful condolence card in the mail. They truly care here. I really can’t say enough nice things about Dr K. Thank you for all you do!

Back in May my senior cat Gucci started showing UTI symptoms and had little to no appetite. He would improve with antibiotics but then rapidly decline once we finished them. He was wasting away and his previous regular vet all but prepared me for his passing, but sent us for an ultrasound. I went to Hilton because they could get us in before anyone else. We saw Dr. McCaron and she determined we were focused on the wrong thing and helped us to discover it was actually a chronic GI issue causing the problem. With the help of Blue Pearl in Chesapeake Gucci now has a diagnosis and a treatment plan. The staff at Hilton are kind and courteous. They handled my cat with compassion and treated him like an old friend while he hissed at them. Dr. McCaron has been amazing, transparent and professional while still showing care for her patients. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Hilton Animal Hospital. I’ll be switching all of my pets over permanently, because I feel like I’ve finally found a vet I can trust.

Dr.Fink and his staff office and techs have been nothing more than wonderful to me and my fur babe Wingnut. I have been a dog owner all my life and visited many clinics over the years but this team is far more superior in kindness and compassion. I will continue to drive across the water to receive their care for the remainder of Wingnuts veterinary needs.
