How to Save Money at Oasis Small Animal and Exotics Veterinary Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My overall experience with this clinic is nothing but positive! They have a very clean, new, welcoming facility and kind staff that take the time to know you and your pet. they are prompt & helpful with answering any questions you may have over text/email and will connect you personally to the Dr's number or email if needed. Their evaluation price was the most reasonable I could find and one of the few vets I could access that will work with my duck. I would recommend them to anyone!

A coworker recommended Oasis and I decided to try them out sometime last year, after the vet I was going to at the time got too expensive and wasn’t listening to any of my concerns. My cat has some uncommon preexisting conditions and they would perform testing on her even when I asked them not to since I already have a specialist I take her too. So I kind of felt hopeless…but, let me tell you, I am so grateful I found this place! First off, the atmosphere is beautiful. A lot of veterinarian hospitals I’d been to in the past always looked so uninviting but here you can tell they put a lot of time, effort, and love into making such a welcoming environment. Secondly, everyone is so amazing and they actually listen to every one of my concerns no matter how “dumb” they sound to me (lol). They are also so transparent with everything they are doing and make sure you’re informed about all your options and any risks associated with them. It’s also sweet how they are just as obsessed with my girl as I am. I recommend Oasis to literally anyone who needs a new vet. Needless to say, if you’re wondering if you should take your fur baby here, DO IT!!

Love Dr. Rice and her staff. The 1st time I brought my rottie to them, he was a new "patient" and had a very bad GI issue and they were able to fit him in that day! Needless to say, he soiled 2 exam rooms, as well as the lobby - the staff, vet tech and Dr. Rice were so kind and understanding. She did her nest to examine him, rx'd him some meds and he was back to his old self. When it was time to get his vaccinations, I brought him in. I did bring his muzzle, he is a rescue and I wasn't sure how he'd be. I love the fact that this tiny vet was not intimidated by his size or breed, we were able to get him vaxed. He wasn't happy about get his blood drawn, but she held her ground. I very much appreciate her taking the time to get to know him and keep him comfortable! Will be bringing my other dog in soon!!

This place is the real deal. I brought my newly rescued rabbit in to start receiving vet care. Firstly, this is one of the very few places that actually advertises that they offer rabbit care, which is how my wife and I ended up finding the place. The staff is very friendly, professional, and attentive. The doctor was also incredible; she took care of our rabbit as if she was her own pet. Very kind, compassionate, and put the animal at ease while doing what needed to be done. I was incredibly impressed and this will become the main vet I use for my rabbit, as well as my two cats. This is definitely the place you want to take your animal.

Having always had animals, from dogs to horses, and moving a lot with the military, I have experienced many, many vets! I can’t think of another time that I have had as wonderful experience as I did at Oasis! I was pet sitting a beloved rat for a friend, when the rat became very ill. I called at least seven different vets, within a two hour radius of my home in Fredericksburg, to see about getting a same day appointment. Not only does Oasis specialize in exotics, they were able to get me in that afternoon! All of the staff was fantastic, especially as they walked me through caring for someone else’s pet. My only complaint is that they are over an hour and 45 minutes away from me! If they were closer, I would use them for all of my animals! I truly can not recommend them highly enough!!
