How to Save Money at Bush Veterinary Neurology Service (BVNS) - Leesburg
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Bush was beyond our highest expectations. He let our golden lick his face over and over! He is so friendly and professional. We loved him. His staff was awesome as well. Rachael and her tech Brittany were so thorough with our instructions and Brittany even laid on the floor with our golden to comfort him so they didnt have to give him a sedative. I can’t praise the experience enough and give them enough stars ⭐️ We highly recommend. THANK YOU DR BUSH WE LOVE YOU 🥰

Tl;DR: BVNS- Leesburg Highly recommend! They are caring, patient, knowledgeable and effective. They're specialists so costs are higher but not ridiculously so. BVNS-Leesburg was an awesome experience! I was very hesitant and skeptical prior to going due to worries about costs and my own expectations of testing being pushed. I could not have been more wrong. My dog has what has been labeled a "difficult case" of idiopathic epilepsy. She has been medicated for years for it but lately has been having increased and even cluster seizures. For two weeks prior to the visit she had a neurological episode every other day. Dr. Wood and her team were patient with my pet and me. They answered all my questions and worked through several different issues I had. Dr. Wood adjusted my dog's medication, recommended some other routine changes and pointed out some possible future testing. Cost wise it wasn't out of the realm of what I have paid for regular vet visits for my dog in the past. Even though I was told effects may take about a month to kick in- it seems they are working sooner than that as my dog has not had any seizure activity in nearly a week.

I brought my dog in for first time seizures. It was a really horrible situation and I was very stressed out. My dog was so comfortable there, she has never been so at ease at a veterinary clinic and therefore it made me more at ease. Everyone was really friendly and answered all of my many many questions. The facility was extremely nice and clean, the best I've seen. I brought her back the following day for an MRI and I felt comfortable leaving her in their care. Everything was full explained to me and the doctor called with her results right away and I was able to pick her up not long after. We will need to be returning yearly as we manage her epilepsy, but I feel she is in good hands there. They really helped ease my anxiety and I think the best thing anyone can do is get an expert opinion when dealing with any neurological issues with their pet.

We brought our dog in from another urgent care facility as her issues seemed to be neurological. The staff at BVNS was very kind and caring. They kept our dog comfortable while preforming their work up on her. Then we talked with Dr. Wood. She very clearly explained our options and we discussed the different scenarios that arise from the options we had. She was very professional and compassionate while working with us during these difficult times. The front desk person, Arlette was also very patient and kindly answered all of our questions as first-time dog owners. Would recomend BVNS and their staff for dogs that need their services.
