How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
They took great care of my babygirl for 6 years. Now they closed down and I have had bad experiences with the Banfield on Bell Creek rd also the one on short pump has many bad reviews...so now what do I do???? The one in Midlothian don't know much....

Front desk was actually really sweet. However, first vet visit I asked for ALL vaccinations to be updated in order for my two dogs to be boarded at a local vet (staff was very familiar with the boarding location and even boarded their own pets there). I left the vet happy assuming this was done, they faxed over the shot records to the dog boarding location. Within 15 minutes after leaving, my boarding location calls me and informs me that both dogs are behind on 2 vaccines?!?! Call back immediately and thankfully was able to get scheduled the next day. Second visit, it now is my fault that I didn't know that my dogs needed the additional 2 vaccines? Well that's great but I asked to have all shots updated and that didn't happen. Force to pay another $90 in vet visit fees, kinda ridiculous to say the least. Was informed that their hands were tied and they could not do anything about it. Not worth going back. Customer service is non existent pass the front desk. The almighty dollar is their main concern.

I took my new dog here for her first appointment. Everyone was so kind and helpful. They were patient with my old timid girl. I had an overall awesome experience. All things were explained in thorough detail to me and their wellness plans seem like a great deal! I look forward to seeing this staff again

I wouldn’t leave my boys in the hands of anyone else.. they’re each almost a year old and they love the staff which makes me feel very comfortable. My dogs absolutely adore Becca!!! Not only does she truly care for my boys (and have seen her passion for other dogs while in the lobby) but they love and trust her also. Knowing there is someone I completely trust to drop my boys off to is the best feeling. She also looks out for my best interest with her great customer service. Aside from the overall experience at this location at the beginning, she was the main reason I continued to come back... then fell in love with the rest of the personable staff and their kindness as well! Dr. Sparks is fantastic. She is kind and communicates to the fullest. She has always answered any and all of my questions patiently. (I’m an over communicator... so this is truly appreciated). While being out of town, I’ve visited a few other locations in other states and couldn’t wait to get home to this location. I’m super grateful!!

We love Dr. Henderson and Dr. Sparks. We actually drive 45 minutes to this location (passing 3 other Banfields) to specifically see these vets. They always treat my pets so well and have worked with me through their more difficult health issues. I know my pets are well taken care of during drop off appointments and they never make me feel like I'm a burden when I ask a ton of questions.
