How to Save Money at Vet Vision
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Avoid this place. They were very nice initially. My dog has cataracts in both eyes but one worst than the other. You could barely see it but I still went ahead and she had surgery, right eye only. Followed everything they said and still my dog had a nasty scar I asked and they said it will get smaller and go away. That did not happen. She is going blind now. I called and told them again that it wasn’t getting small and they were in a mood and told me I needed to pay a new consultation. The right eye now is getting blind and you can definitely see something is wrong with it. She didn’t look like this before the surgery.

Dr. Corcoran is certainly a master of her craft. I think we all can agree that no one wants to see a specialist when it comes to their pet. With the word specialist comes extra zeros at the end of your bill. However, I was very pleased at how well done the entropion repair was to my dogs left eye. The hardest part is the home care for the two weeks following the procedure. But it is very clear that she is very surgically, precise and clean when working. We are about a week into our recovery and while I wish I could hire someone to finish out this recovery for the dog, I think Dr. Corcoran did an amazing job! I know he's feeling better already having his eye lid corrected and no longer rubbing against his eye ball all day every day. Additionally, her prices are very reasonable. I feel like she is one of the few vets around that understands that people really try to do their best to care for their pets and makes that pet care affordable. So people are able to move forward with procedures that give their pets the best quality of life possible with the ability to afford to do so.

The staff is kind, and they take great care of your pet. Although the office was busy, the doctor took time to explain what was happening with our pups' eyes and all the options we had for her care. The surgery was done with care, and the healing time was fast and as painfree as possible. A+

Overbooked, Overpaid, My dog's eye surgery was ineffective for almost $2000 (lasted only 4 months.) They take no accountability on the outcome of the surgery. Also, this Dr. diagnosed, prescribed and charged for medication that was not related to my dogs eyes and would have caused major problems if I had given it to my senior dog per my regular Vet! This was the worst experience for my senior dog and me! I wish I had never had called to book an initial appointment! What a waste of time and money!

Update: Diesel’s eyes have not had issues 5 years after his entropion and cherry eye surgery; not one! Vet Vision is the best pet optometrist in the DC area! I posted a video below so you can see; thanks again! I panicked when my 8-month old English Bulldog woke up with a cherry eye. His regular Vet recommended visiting Dr. Corcoran at Vet Vision and so thankful that we took him to her practice. I called and they booked him in right away for a first visitation, then the surgery appointment was scheduled for 12/3/2018. Dr. Corcoran with her blessed and experienced hands corrected the cherry eye in no time; we got him back that same day and now Diesel is back to being a happy dog again. It took 12 days to be normal again which seemed very fast. I strongly recommend Dr. Corcoran’s practice for your pet’s eye needs. Not only is she a highly experienced ophthalmologist, but also has worked as a volunteer for the U.S. Army and the White House medical units helping service dogs stay healthy. Your furry friend will be well taken care of at Vet Vision. 🐶
