How to Save Money at Animal Medical Center
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I have been taking my pets to Animal Medical Center for almost thirty years and there is no other place I would trust the care of my babies. They oversaw the care of my dog his entire thirteen years he was with me, every problem, every concern and were with me at the end. They were like family to me throughout that process and they have been taking care of my cats for years now. They are compassionate, knowledgeable, diligent, skilled and trustworthy. In addition, one of my cats I have now has been quite aggressive with them ever since Covid and having to be seen without me being present but they are excellent with him and they never say anything. I also board my pets there for vacations and they receive excellent care. I’ve never had one problem and never have to worry while I’m gone. I’m truly appreciative of all the staff for being there for my family and my fur babies.

This is how I picked up my dog after boarding her for 4 days. Not only did they let my dog get attacked by multiple dogs they charged me for the antibiotics. She has multiple staples and lacerations all over her face. They charged me for the boarding still. Receptionist Tim said "sometimes dogs are dogs". They told me they had a peaceful play area option for well behaved dogs she could go to daily which they also charge for. Told me 2 employees will be watching over the dogs at all times. Then how does this happen? I'll tell you how. I walk outside to see the so called peaceful dogs and they are all going nuts and there was ZERO employees watching over them. I have video footage of this as well but can't upload a video on here. I've asked multiple times for someone in charge to call me but they said they are out of office and will call me back in a few days. Worst business ran operation I have ever seen. Don't take your animals here, and if you do definitely don't let them play in the peaceful dog eat dog area because "sometimes dogs are dogs" as Tim would say. Can't believe they let that guy talk with customers. Another terrible business decision.

Review of GROOMING SERVICES ONLY. Used their grooming service and it was terrible. I was specific with the groomer (Melissa Rose) about the size guard and style of cut for my giant schnauzer. He has been being groomed by the same groomer since birth and due to moving to Virginia we needed a new person. This was not the place. Melissa lowered his skirt by several inches to under his abdomen. She chopped his eyebrows and beard to several different lengths, leaving hair still in his eyes. She shaved his legs to several different lengths when my instructions were specific that he was to be cut at 3/4 of an inch for his entire skirt. When I asked to speak to someone about the issues with his groom, I was told to call the groomer during her business hours. The unevenness of his beard and eyebrows is alarming. He does not even smell clean. Brittney at the front desk was rude and petulant. She lacked customer service or even the slightest bit of empathy for the situation. Instead she responded in an aberrant manner and lacked all possible professionalism and decorum. Update, Lisa the officer manager called me. She sent me to the groomer at another office and what could be fixed was fixed. She also refunded my money and was sincere and apologetic. Please don’t judge the vet by this groomer.

The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcomed. My dog needed several shots and they were able to get him seen at the last minute on a Friday! You can't beat that! The Dr. was very nice and friendly as well . I highly recommend this place for all your pets needs.

My neighbor brought in her cat for a hip surgery, not even an hour later they called her letting her know her cat had passed. They offered free cremation and cancellation of the bill. That means nothing, her cat is dead because of mal practice. Please do not bring your pets here.
