How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

If i could provide 0 stars i would. By far worst banfield location i've been to. My dog had a dental cleaning with them scheduled in the morning and i never receive a call once she had woken up, i had to just show up and my dog had apparently been ready for over an hour. My most recent unpleasant experience is different vet techs calling me over 3 different times trying to cancel my appointment because of an issue on their end. If an appointment shows available on the app, i expect to show up. Not to be interrogated by 3 different people 3 different times trying to defend my reasoning for keeping my appointment.

This location is terrible!! Unfortunately, my dog developed cancer and I had to schedule an appointment to euthanize my dog. I made the appointment for 5 days later so I could prepare my family and make arrangements. They called the day before my appointment to cancel my appointment! They offered me an appointment for 9 days later! You can imagine the emotional stress this has put on my family, not to mention the continued discomfort of my dog. I will never use this joke of a pet hospital again.

Front desk team was great, very professional. But in all of the animal clinics & hospitals I’ve been to this one is a little off. After being there for an hour and having the nurse try and negotiate my bill without the vet even seeing my dog to know what he needed I decided to leave and take him elsewhere. Such a weird experience. Update: Also want to add that in our time there 1 person on the staff took the time to genuinely greet my pet but no one took the time to engage enough to make him comfortable. He has loved his vets in the past but had his big German shepherd ears tuned in during this entire visit and seemed very unsettled, even hid under the table which is not like him at all. Plus 1 star for the follow up call. The next day someone called to check on him which is very thoughtful.

This practice charges WELL over the going rate for pet care and when you try to cancel their wellness plans, they give you the run around and charge you not only for the total cost of service (which is fair), but you also get charged for the plan (which is close to $150). When I tried to contact the company, they again were supremely unhelpful and the assistant quoted different totals without context or explanation and then told me that I would need to contact the practice manager for help "disputing charges," despite the only charge I am disputing having nothing to do with the location but the company.

I absolutely love this hospital! The staff is so amazing and sweet. My pups are both generally anxious but Dr.Adams is truly a great doctor who is super communicative and knowledgeable! Dr.Hwang is very sweet and super thorough! Recently I brought in my youngest to start a plan , they got my records from my previous hospital. They Continued her vaccines she was due for, did a dental , and sent her home super happy and well loved. Both my babies love the staff. If I could give a million stars , I would!
