How to Save Money at Olympus Cove Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Thank you to Dr. Tarassov and staff for seeing our dog for an urgent visit. Most clinics require your animal to be an existing patient before they will assist. Thankfully we found Olympus Cove clinic when our dog had a very infected paw and needed a foreign body exploration done, late on a Friday afternoon. Everyone in the clinic was very friendly and genuinely cared about our fur baby.

I have had average experiences with the vets at Olympus Cove. However, the front desk have been inconsiderate and rude. I needed to bring my German shepherd in for an emergency appointment in July, which we waited over 90 minutes for outside of the clinic. When we were brought in and I was getting his weight, I asked for a treat, to lure him onto the scale. The person checking me in told me there are people waiting and the treat could wait. I had just waited almost two hours to get him in and figured the 5 seconds it would take to get him a treat wouldn’t be a big deal. They have also handled him poorly on leash in the past after I had specifically asked them to use his halti if needed, but instead they used a slip lead that choked him. Finally, I called this month to ask for his heartworm renewal. Corinne at the front desk impatiently answered that they won’t do any prescriptions without a heart worm test. That’s reasonable, however, the delivery and tone could have been much better. I have since found a smaller clinic that is much more compassionate and genuinely interested in helping animals. I can’t believe I endured taking him here for so long. I will not be back here to deal with impatient staff while my pet and I are already in a stressful situation. I will say the new vet commended the clinic for how thorough their notes are. I do appreciate that, just wish their staff had better stress tolerance and patience.

I called ahead to see if I could bring my cat in and the front desk person told me that Fridays are walk in days and that worked for me. On Friday I showed up right before 10 and was told that the walk in hours start at noon, which I didn't remember being told from the phone conversation. I was faced with either waiting for 2 hours with my stressed out cat, or leaving and coming back. The front desk person that day seemed to understand the miscommunication and said they could try to get me in before 12, maybe 11:30. This was kind, but I didn't want to leave my cat in his carrier for 1.5 hours. I told her I would have to leave and I may not be able to come back. Before I got to the door she offered to see what they could do and brought me and my cat right back. While I wouldn't expect this type of exception to always be made, I really appreciated that she had some options for me and went out of her way to help. We were out of there within 40 minutes with a good solution for our situation, which is faster than I would expect. I'm happy with the care and service here and happy to continue taking both my pets.

My family and I have been very impressed with Dr. T and his staff. They have been so genuine, kind, and thoughtful throughout our visits with them. This is our 3rd time going back to them and would definitely recommend them as a provider. They truly care for you pet as an individual and think about their specific situation, which I appreciate. Thank you Dr.T and your wonderful staff.

Adrei Tarrasov came into the room and was extremely unprofessional, he told me that my dog did not have anxiety and I was not training him properly. I had told him about his issues going into the kennel and how nervous he is being anywhere near it and how I have tried everything to get him in and make him more comfortable. My dog also cannot be left alone as he does have extremely bad separation anxiety. I told him I could not afford a trainer for my 8 month old puppy and he proceeded to say “then why did you get a dog” he proceeded to test his kennel anxiety out and despite my dog sounding extremely distressed in the kennel, he said he was doing it all for attention. He then didn’t charge for an exam so I could “go get a trainer”. He is a HORRIBLE vet and wouldn’t recommend going here at any point in time. If you would like to be told how horrible of a dog parent you are then definitely go here. There is a reason this doctor has gotten many 1 star reviews regardless of how many excuses he tries to make for his own behavior.
