How to Save Money at Borrett Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

All 3 vets here are lovely people and so good at their jobs. My entire family uses this clinic, and have never had a problem. Our dogs love Kolste, and he’s done a fabulous job of helping our dog with his anxiety. Miller is so attentive and compassionate. Wiedmier was very reassuring when my kitten had a lump, and didn’t dismiss my concerns. We just had 4 kittens neutered and Miller and techs took excellent care of them, and even provided extra support when our boy was feeling a little dumpy after. The techs are incredible too and it makes for a great experience. Good people all around, who will take good care of your pets:)

Tail amputation appointment- better than I imagined! Newer to the Ogden area and didn’t have an established vet yet. My dog ended up lacerating her tail and it cut through the tendons halfway. She needed it amputated and one vet I went to who didn’t have time for surgery, recommended us to Borrett Animal Hospital. I called immediately, & they got my baby girl scheduled first thing the very next morning and were very clear and open about pricing over the phone before hand. Still with surgery, I was extremely nervous because I had never taken her there before. Rest assured, the place was extremely clean, the staff was more than helpful, friendly, and welcoming. They got her fixed up in a matter of a few hours and she got to come home. Her tail - although now a nub, looks great and put my mind to ease. They seriously are not there to just take your $. They are so reasonably priced and I cannot thank them enough for taking care of me and my Sadie girl.

Absolutely miserable experience at this vet, Went in for a routine checkup and they deteremined my dog to have an ear infection, despite owning dogs for a long time, and having dogs with severe ear infections and only having to rub cream on it at home, they decided to do a full wash of his ears with absolutely no explanation of what was going to be done, it resulted in them sticking a 5 inch rubber tube down his ear and flushing it out multiple times with different substances. Obviously my dog was not a fan of this and was trying to escape, despite showing no signs of aggression they forcibly muzzled him and then basically told me we might have to sedate him to do this. I told them how upset I was and there was never an explanation of what happened. Absolutely miserable vet, Do not go there for the sake of your pet.

When Borrett was here, she was amazing, but the new people suck. They don't care about your dog, and just want money. They told me and my family that our dog would be fine, and that she's just tired from the pain meds. She died today, because of something they removed during surgery, that they were painfully vague about.

We traveled 3 1/2 hours to an emergency vet to an emergency vet that was gonna charge us 6000 dollars to have a surgery done. Borrett animal hospital quoted us 1500-2000 dollars for that same surgery and immediately got our baby in considering the circumstances. They are extremely kind and actually care about the well being of your fur baby. We will be making the 3 1/2 hour drive to this vet any time our baby needs it.
